Timeline:

Sunday
Replaced cracked gas line
Fuel valve was frickered so I next day shipped the replacement from Illinois.

Tuesday
Part arrives.
Replace valve.
Gas is leaking everywhere from the carburetor.
Remove carburetor and clean it twice.
Reinstall carburetor.

Cranks then dies. Cranks then dies.

Keep cranking it, it took 50 tries until mine stayed running. It would. Rank and die.

I cleaned that mofo for 20 minutes with cleaner.

No idea what the deal is now.

I did this to two generators since saturday, tear apart your carb again, make sure all of your o rings and gaskets are in good shape (could be why you are pouring gas out) get a wire and some carb cleaner, soak all metal parts down with the carb cleaner and clean out every little hole in the carburator. I had to soak my carb in parts cleaner for about three hours before it would work properly.

Messed with mine after reading a thread on the OB. Did what was said, no luck. Backtracked and decided to tap on the bowl after knowing it should have fuel, end of story.
Good luck, and Sea Foam is your friend.

If it runs for a minute and dies, your needle jet isn't allowing fuel into bowl. Needle jet is the small thing connected to the float that allows the gas into the carb. Take it off and clean out where the needle goes into the carb. Use a rag and clean the needle jet. Get all of the gunk off. Also, find the jet (flat head screw driver slot in it), take it out and clean it with cleaner.

Hope that works for you. Where r u located. I am in Watson and may be able to help.

Got it running, but it drips gas off the bottom of the carburetor.

O-ring shot by ethanol crap.

Thats impressive. Too expensive of a risk for me not to run it once a month though.

Fired up my generator yesterday for the first time in over a year, with the same gas in it. Battery was dead but it cranked on the first pull. Yay Honda!

...only to snap off an important bolt at the bottom of the bowl as I tightened it.

I'm guessing that your honda has no impact on whether the gasoline in it goes bad or not...if I had spent that much money on a generator, I'd damn sure run it more frequently than that..
