Plenty trees fell near the courthouse in Convent. Hwy 20 in vacherie has telephone poles on the road. Water plants are running fine.

Bump.....water rising quickly in St. James Parish right now
Posted on 8/31/12 at 5:35 pm to 3HourTour
Is the water still rising is Gramercy? I hear all the power that was restored is now out again. I seen some pics of 3125 and the daiquiri shop and it looks like the water is almost to the road. So is it still rising? Are they going to evac any part of the gramercy/lutcher/paulina/grand point area? How about the river is it close to the top of the levee?

this water is from blind river backing up
Posted on 8/31/12 at 6:19 pm to vodkacop
From what I hear, MS river is still low. It's Blind river that's the problem.

Ok thanks. Yall think its gonna get worse? Maybe evac the area?

They cut the power to the substation because of the water levels. I heard that water was coming over us 61 at 0500 this morning. Had to take river road to work tonight because traffis was backed up around the stockpile.

Just got off the phone with the wife. She talked to the sheriff's dept and they are saying about a week without power in gramercy. this is what the deputy that she know told her.

There is no levee breach in St. James Parish
Posted on 8/31/12 at 7:36 pm to vodkacop
the only levee is the ms river levee and the river's low as hell, the water is backing up from blind river (back grandpoint) the canal runs parallel to 3125 in the woods to gramercy
