I see. For a while everything off of Stumberg, where I live, was the only thing without power when the storm hit.

it happens everytime there is a storm. the bottom half gets power while the rest comes back a day or 2 later. I was hoping we would end up on the new hospital grid but no luck

There is so much wrong with this thread. Keep your heads up. You'll get power eventually.

It was kind of frustrating knowing Hickory Ridge and Shenandoah had power the whole time. Especially Hickory ridge considering we are backed up to them

I have a problem with the same statement being said for over 24 hours when clearly they have a plan in place
The PR people are usually idiots when it comes to this. They can't answer specific questions so they say the same thing over and over.
Every utility has a plan. Specific - no. But a plan is in place to evaluate the damage and begin putting things together. A company like Entergy is so huge that there is a lot to evaluate and that takes time.

Sometimes the people in the field are the ones with the most knowledge but are advised against giving out estimates. It usually takes a PR person, manager or CEO to make a statement to get information out.
I've been on both sides of these situations.

The next big update from Entergy will be at 4:30.

I live near goodwood, off Florida, and literally everyone around me has power except for me.
I understand there are thousands of outtages and people are much worse off in other places, but I'll be damned if I sit in my dark living room watching every single one of my neighbors on all sides of me enjoying electricity again tonight.

This is common along with "I'm always first to lose power, and last to get it back".
Everybody says the same thing.

I know, I was just venting my frustration along with the OP. But in all seriousness, it's a group of townhouses and the ones across from me have power and the ones next to me have power. The street lights are working and the surrounding neighborhood has power as well.
I think I'm really just upset that I've never been on "the good side of the street" when these storms knock power out

It happens more than people know, actually. Sometimes the taps off of the main feeder have multiple fused points on them. If one section of the tap has a tree one it, but the others in front only had a branch and could be cleared easily, the fuse infront of the tree damage can be pulled, giving the guy across the street power and not you. Its annoying for you, but a necessity to get people back up as quick as possible.

It shouldn't take anybody longer than a week max to get power, and that is pushing it.
Without knowing Baton Rouge's particular circumstances, a week is along time for the damage that I heard was reported. It sounds like it was minimal. The lower parishes, MS, and AL that took harder hits can expect much longer delays..I would assume. However, giving a time frame is sometimes impossible.

It shouldn't be their job to deflect, avoid, or not release pertinent information. They look terrible right now. This wasn't even close to the Damage Gustav created. They better have a "master plan" to roll out. It shouldn't take anybody longer than a week max to get power, and that is pushing it.
Every time I've heard an Entergy employee interviewed on TV or the radio they've given out the exact number of outages in EBR or the Capital Region.
And they have released a "master plan". Sorry you have chosen to ignore it.
