Are the big box stores good enough or is there somewhere else better to purchase solid core doors? In the New Orleans / Metairie area

Jefferson door or maybe dyke? We bought ours from Dyke I believe but I wish full 1 3/4” was a thing, we would have done that.

1.75 is standard commercial door thickness. For residential use need to make sure your frames can fit the door. Typically we use hollow metal frames for that door thickness

Yes, they are but brush up on the nomenclature. A solid-core door is not a solid wood door. A solid core door will be particle board or engineered wood somewhat like OSB and very heavy. If you want solid wood, be sure to look for that.

A little useful info.

We bought ours from Amazing Windows & Doors in Metairie (close to Severn & W Esplanade). We bought from them around 6-7 years ago, great team, and easy to work with.

Bought a few that were the entire kit, but most of them were the doors by themselves as we were just replacing the current doors.
