Anyone notice an enormous amount of ant activity lately? My guess its the constant rain, but my wife wants them all dead...so I must figure this out.

Broadcast talstar xl from Shenandoah hardware. 2x a year and you will have zero ants.

They are mating, which they do 250 ft in the air. Land all over and start colonies. Spring and fall.
Rain forces them to mound up to stay dry.
Double whammy.

I haven't had ants in years.

Bought a couple bags of talstar granules to spread. Normally I just spray and that takes care of them.

So I've had recent ant infestations around trash cans, dog food, grill, etc. I use Talstar and granules in yard but the ands have pushed past. What I didn't realize, is that for effective control, you need something that worker ants bring back to the colony.

I saw a recommendation from here on H&G to use TERRO baits. They have effectively eliminated all ants around my house in 2 weeks. I just set the baits and left them. They work fantastic, cheap, and I don't have to do any work spraying/spreading.

They’re forming a Coup.

Honestly I’ve not seen many and haven’t put down any Talstar this year.

The worst part about using Terro baits is how effective they are in attracting ants. If I see a few ants, I’ll put down a Terro unit and it’s not long before an alarming number of ants are streaming to the bait. I resist the urge to attack the ants and no more ants after a day or two.
