I don't need to pay for treated right? It's gonna be painted and is out of the weather.

My T&G porch ceilings are not treated, painted, and 27 years old and in fine shape.

Don’t think it’s necessary although I don’t have it under my porch, it’s under my detach and outdoor kitchen. Stained and sealed.

We went with panels that have grooves in them. Easier to work with according to our contractor and it gives a similar look. Less materials and labor cost if you’re painting anyway.

Prior to painting.

After paint.

Mine are on the underside of the rafters. I thought about v groove which is what that looks like, but I want the 4", not 6"

I have 2 T&G porch ceilings and they are not treated but painted light blue. No need for treated if out of the weather.

Since the OP got his question answered, I’ll ask another. Does anyone have T&G ceilings that are not beaded? I’ve heard some call them centermatch. With a natural finish, this looks good to me... better than wood with a bee or bead.

Upside down T-11 4 x 8 siding looks great, and cheaper

A lot of beaded T&G have the option of putting them upside down and it’s V-grooved.

I preferred the beaded look for my outdoor kitchen. But both looks are nice.

I'm going T&G w/o the bead. Just ordered 300 sq feet from Dash lumber.
