Looking for the big boulder type limestone to put around a culvert end to stop dirt washout. Any way to get away from having to order a whole truckload?

might want to look into crushed concrete, it works just as well as limestone gravel and is much cheaper

often the best thing around culverts is get a pallet of 40 lbs bags of concrete and stack it like bricks, then drive rebar through then to stake them in place and you are done. they are way cheaper then hauling a load of stones and when it rains they turn into solid bricks that will never move or go anywhere

It's been $55.00-$60.00 per yard on the northshore lately. We've been seeing $1500 range for 25 yard trucks. That is for #57 though and what you're looking for sounds like rip rap.

eta: where are you located?

I put some down for a secondary driveway. The ground was very soft previously. The crushed concrete made an incredible base. Very solid. But it will wash away with substantial water flow. Did not stay in place with water drip from my building roof (no gutter), and will not stay with a stream from garden hose, for example. I don't think it would hold up well on a ditch opening/bank with any measure of flow. There may be various crush sizes or other criteria available. But while I'm very satisfied with what I have it for, I wouldn't use what I have for OP's purpose. I will eventually put limestone over the crushed concrete. But as a base, or a flat area with only rain, it has been great.
