Can someone please id these large patches that are popping up everywhere in my yard? Also can someone id the grass for me. I think it's St. Aug but i just want to be sure.
I sprayed a pre-emergent last month it seemed to get rid of all the weeds but now these large green patches are popping up everywhere.
Thanks in advance

Dallisgrass (weed)? Bermudagrass - lawn.

You can spray the dallis with roundup in the winter when the Bermuda is dormant

So there is no way to get rid of it now? Thank you all for the info.

You can get rid of it with Tribute Total. Tribute is the combination of Revolver, Celsius, and Sedgehammer. Problem is it's $400 per bottle. If you know a few people that have Dallisgrass issues maybe y'all could all go in on it.

Depending on how wide spread your dallisgrass is, you can carefully spot treat with glyphosate. Also, you can but $100 bottle of celcius for larger coverage.

Listen to the guys on this board that have dealt with Dallisgrass, best I can offer is this fact sheet, read it and see if any of recommendations might work for you Dallisgrass in Turfgrass . Dallisgrass is a perennial weed, so pre-emergent herbicide alone will not control it going forward. If it’s not excessively bad, physical removal of at least some of it may be an option.

far from an expert(listen to crawdude and ronk), but in my experience your best option is to dig it up. You can also spray round up into the "heart" of it. you'll end up with a brown spot/dead dallis grass but it'll work.

If you’re really bored one day dig it up and fill the hole with some compost and the Bermuda should cover the spot by august

This is an accurate statement. Bermuda recovers and spreads at an incredible rate. Dig it, fill it, and wait.
Celsius alone will stunt, yellow, and prevent seeding. The amount of Celsius alone needed to kill dallisgrass will probably kill the bermuda.
If you do decide to use tribute it must be sprayed on the back end of growth (September), it must have seed oil added, must be sprayed until wet, and must be repeated 28-32 days later. Bermuda will yellow but not die. It is an expensive solution.

I've gotten rid of mine with this. LINK
Tribute is probably the best but it's so damn expensive.

I had a fair bit this spring and found pulling it not too bad.

Who wins in a fight? Bermuda or St. Aug?
I have some old Bermuda that is trying to take over my St. Aug that suffered from a fungus last year. I am hoping my St. Aug wins the fight.

I have that issue in my backyard. I want the St Aug to win. There is no selective herbicide to remove the Bermudagrass without harming St Aug. So you have to cut the grass high - 3 to 3 1/2 inches. Over time the St Aug will hopefully take over. I’m going into year 3 of this and the St Aug is making major inroads into the Bermudagrass. Do everything you can to make sure the St Aug is healthy and growing rapidly.

I’d honestly be guessing, so send these photos to Dr Ron Strahan (weed and turf professor) LSU AgCenter, rstrahan@agcenter.lsu.edu, ask if he can ID for you, and then jump back in and let us know. In the meantime, maybe another poster can provide a correct ID.

I hate not being able to ID a weed. Take a picture of it still rooted.

I bought a bottle of msma. So i will try that first. If that doesn't work i will start digging.
