I'm using a 1 gal. pump sprayer. What is the ratio of product to water that is recommended?

1/8 teaspoon per gallon? Is this for general use / spot spray or for broad application? How much area will that cover?

Are yall really seeing VBW at these temps? I thought it dies once the temp gets above 85/90.

I had a huge infestation 2 years ago. Sprayed my entire yard with MSM and knocked it down. It allowed my St. Augustine to overtake it. Last year was beautiful, no tiny white flowers to be seen!
With the drought we experienced in south La., especially last month, I saw some dead spots. This is where I am now seeing VBW starting to show up.
I guess it is from lack of competition.
Fixin' to bust it in the arse as soon as I get 2 days without rain in the forecast.

VBW is predatorial. I kinda like pulling it up by hand to see it's path. It seems to wrap itself around the grass roots and runners.

It seems that it thrives above 90, which is why we have to use MSM Turf to kill it.

That is the concentration I use for spot spraying, 1/8 teaspoon=0.5 g per gallon of water while taking care to spray the targeted weed with minimal overspray on desirable lawn grass.

However, the label rate for broad lawn application is 0.5 gram per 1000 sq ft, not per water volume. So if you are capable of applying, with your sprayer and walking gate, 1 gallon of spray solution over 1000 sq ft then that dilution rate is fine. However, in my case with my sprayer and my walking gate, I need 2 gallons of solution to cover 1000 sq ft, so I mix 1/8 teaspoon in 2 gallons over water to cover 1000 sq ft.

So the bottom line is if your are doing whole lawn spraying you need to know how many square feet of a lawn you cover with a gallon of solution with your sprayer and walking gate and adjust accordingly. And this true for most of the good post-emergent herbicides discussed/recommended on this board.

Lastly, you should add 2 teaspoons of non-ionic surfactant per gallon of water to help increase the absorption rate of the herbicide into the targeted weed(s).

You need to think of the water as strictly a carrier, not a dilutant, to deliver “x” amount of herbicide over 1000 sq ft.

I'm glad I'm not the only weirdo. Grabbing a piece and tugging it and seeing a piece of grass move 18" away and spend a few minutes trying to get it up in one piece.

I do that, too.
However, VBW seeds underground. So it will continue unless nuked.

I second this as I also need two gallons of water with 1/8tsp of MSM to cover 1000 sq ft. I have had nothing but success with MSM being used on VBW.

I also find it satisfying/addicting to pull it up by hand. I never guessed others enjoyed it!

I'm gunna spot spray first. If I still see some more, I'll do the whole yard again in 4-6 weeks.
