Can someone help me out here on how to use this? It is telling me on a per acre basis. I would like to know how much to put in a gallon sprayer for st aug grass.

MSM is something like .006oz for 1,000sqft if you want a 0.25oz per acre application rate which is nearly impossible to figure out.

I hate math so I typically just completely cover the bottom of the measuring cup and put it into my pump-sprayer. I haven't over applied yet but just be careful as its easy to do.

Perfect! That is what I am looking for and did the same. .025 oz is impossible to measure

I’ve got a couple questions as well regarding this and I’ll just piggy back on if u don’t mind.

I’ve seen several mentions of it being harmful to oaks. I’ve have a new nuttal and a 3 year old live oak. How close is too close to spray near these? Also will it affect crepe myrtles?

Also can I tank mix msm turf and sedgehammer?

I have never seen it effect oaks but that could be because I use it at the correct rate and don't over apply.

MSM and sedgehammer is what I use until the real heat of the summer hits.

Also, if you can find Manor (msm brand name) it comes with the correct measuring tool.

I’ll be applying the MSM and Sedgehammer mix soon. Do you apply them at their normal rate? I’ll be mixing in a 15 gal container so a little more leeway in accuracy.

Is MSM by weight or volume? Since it’s granules I assume it’s a weight basis, but people mixing “teaspoon” and ounces and grams tends to confuse me a little bit.

How will you be applying the 15 gallons? If it is a backpack then you'll be spraying at .67 gallons per minute and your mix rate will be 7.3 grams of MSM and 14 grams of sedgehammer. That is the normal rate.

It is by weight.

Tow behind tank sprayer with a boom less nozzle for a broadcast application. Will be covering roughly 20k sqft.

Do you know the knozzle's application rate? .33, .5, .67, or 1 gallon per minute?

Funny - I just got some and way trying to figure out the mix ratio myself. The little instruction booklet was less than useless. After googling, I came across something that said 1/2 to 1 gram per gallon. I hope that's correct b/c that's the ratio I used and sprayed down my entire yard yesterday. We'll see how it goes. I'm so full of weeds (and what someone he identified as swamp parsley) it's ridiculous.

I think there are 28 grams in an ounce. It may be mixed a little hot but just see how it goes.

The pump is 2.0 GPM, but not sure through the nozzle. I’ll test it in a little bit.

Is the goal to get a set weight of product per area of lawn or a set dilution rate of the chemicals? Because I also don’t know my exact travel speed/coverage. The spray width is about 12-15’. I’ve normally used this setup to spray glyphosate in my kill/till routine, so it wasn’t as critical.

Not to hijack the thread but is a surfactant critical when using MSM? I treated my yard with it about a month ago and after 2 weeks hardly any weeds were dying. After 3 weeks I came back and spot treated with Roundup because I was tired of waiting. I definitely over did it with the measurements and still nothing died. I've heard nothing but good things about it here so just trying to figure out where I went wrong.

All of the rates I use for 2 GPM or a spreader are for 1,000 square feet per minute. 2 GPM is a 6 foot pass-3 feet on either side of the line I am walking. Then move over 3 feet for your next line. A spreader is 8 feet passes with 4 feet on either side. Move over 4 feet and repeat. So every pass is overlapped.

I guess it is both product per area and dilution rate since it is an exact amount of product per 1,000 square feet and exactly how much product per gallon of liquid.

Surfactant is critical for broad leafs like dollar weed, alligator weed, etc.
