For the past week we have been finding ants in various spots in the kitchen. They seem to come in where electrical outlets are at.
I hear this heat is what's driving them in to find cooler areas???
A mix of vinegar and water 50/50 seems to work. It destroys the scent they use to find their trail.

I would put some talstar down along the exterior wall even the whole perimeter. Then soak the back wall of your kitchen with it too before y’all leave so it can dry and leave a residue.

I think they’re looking for water more than anything.

Be sure you're exterminator is spraying around the base of the house. I think it helps our ant issue. they come in for the water (or oils) and cool air. same as people.

Same issue I am having, except I am finding them in the shower every morning. I sprayed termidor a few weeks ago also around the perimeter. I figured it would've gotten rid of any ants like it usually does.

We had a bunch when we moved into our house early June. Bought those Terro liquid ant baits and placed them at different spots. They were gone 1 week later. No more signs of ants at all since then.

Talstar liquid and Bifen granules outside around the perimeter also helps out a lot.

Read somewhere they’re seeking refuge from the heat

We've been told this, too.
I do my own pesticide spraying - Suspend. It's always been effective.

Same and hearing same from friends. Never had this issue before. Picked up leftover dog food and haven’t seen again since.

The best stuff to kill ants inside the house, attic, or walls is Syngenta Advion Ant Gel. It kills the whole colony of ants, queen and all even when you have no idea where the ant nest(s) are. I'm pretty sure it will kill any type of any (sugar or protein eating ants).

We had carpenter ants taking over our sunroom coming in through the ceiling and window frames from somewhere inside our walls and attic.

We put out several small cardboard strips (from the slick outside part of a cereal box) and put multiple drops of the ant gel on them in the pathways we saw the ants walking. It didn't take very long before more and more ants were eating the gel and taking it back to the nest to tell others. We just let them feast away. The gel kills any ants that eat it and then the dead poisoned ants are also eaten by the colony. The whole ant colony is poisoned and dead within about a couple of days to maybe a week. This stuff was unbelievably effective.

Some more tips. Don't physically kill the ants or with spray when using this. You want the ants to eat this and make it back to the nest.

It took the ants a few hours or so before they started eating it. Once we saw a couple of ants eating it we gradually started seeing more ants eating it.

We initially put out a few small pieces of strips of cardboard that we cut to approx 1" wide by maybe 3"long, and we put a few 1" lines of the gel that we squeezed out of the syringe. I noticed the ants were having a little issue with being in each other's way. So I cut some more strips of cardboard and put drops of the gel spaced about 1/4" apart. That worked better, and most times I saw one ant eating on each drop like it was their own personal little feeding station. I was cheering them on and actually enjoyed watching them in an evil kind of way, because the carpenter ants were driving us crazy for a couple of weeks before. We were miserable during that time and right at the point of spending a lot with a pest control company. Advion Ant Gel came to our rescue.

The gel should come out smoothly in a gel consistency. We first this purchased on Amazon and they sent us some old and almost dried out hard gel that we returned. The ants should be able to quickly slurp up the gel and not have to take a lot of time knawing on it. We then bought the same gel at DoMyOwn dot com from this link Advion Ant Gel

Note: You'll only need a little bit of this gel to wipe out the whole nest. If you just bought four tubes of this, you can save some money if you cancel your order and just order 1 syringe from DoMyOwn dot com (link above) (change from 4 tubes to 1 tube in the link above for only $12.98). You can also call them with questions if you have any. They sell a lot of pest control products and know their stuff.

We probably used the equivalent of about a 4" line streamed out of the syringe. Maybe that was only 20% of the syringe.

Just cut any food box and put the gel on the slick outside side so the gel doesn't soak into the cardboard. It makes it very easy to move and clean up the gel when you are done. We only saw ants for less than 2 days after they started eating this gel, but we left the gel out for another week just to be sure.

Put the strips where kids and pets can't get to it. You can put stuff like planters, boxes or anything in the way to keep a dog or cat from reaching it if you have the gel cardboard pieces on the floor.

Thank you. My quarterly pest control guy used this or something like it last time I had sugar ants in the house a few years ago. I just didn't know I could get it myself. He had little 1" x 1" pieces of card with a dime sized drop of gel on each one. It worked great back then also.

In Alabama here and FIL is constantly spraying those little black ants. We called them sugar ants when we were kids. Every year when it rains too much, he has them in his kitchen. When it is too dry for long periods, they are there again. It’s really weird. It’s usually a train of them along a baseboard or a wall and ceiling.
