I have a 1800sq foot house and I need to add insulation to my attic. I have an extremely low pitch on my roof. Even in the middle of the attic I can not stand up. Some spots have adequate insulation and some spots have none. The areas I cannot get to is where the insulation is. Thinking about spreading the loose insulation in spots where I can get to. Anyone ever do this yourself? Also am I wasting my time just adding to the spots with no insulation or will any bit help?

I just spent the weekend emptying my attic and adding 2x4s to raise up my storage in preparation for blowing in insulation (hopefully this coming weekend)

I would imagine you aren't wasting your time. If you have enough space to kind of crawl with the hose and another human who can feed the hopper, you could likely blow some in fairly easily

I watched this old house and them old guys said if you are just needing some in spots to buy the blown in insulation and use a garden rake to fluff it up. I had some spots settle and someone repaired a leaky roof and didn't replace the insulation after repairing the ceiling. I went to home depot bought a new plastic rake and a bunch of that insulation and just added it myself. I also laid some of that roll insulation with no paper facing over top of far end of the house which seemed not to heat and cool as other parts of the house. The home is now much more comfortable in terms of even heating and cooling

Go to Lowe’s , buy so many bales of insulation, they let you use the machine for free, 2 people and a few hours, pretty easy job, get it done before it gets hot

Don't cover up your soffit air paths while dumping all this new insulation. It's required for venting the hot air out the roof vents.
