Several years back, I asked for recommendations on a new washer and Speedqueen was by far the most recommended. I replaced that and have been happy with it. Currently, my 15-20 year old Maytag dryer is out and I’m waiting on a part to see if I can fix it. I have kept this one going over the years but, I would like to have some recommendations on a good electric dryer in case I need to replace it. What would you all recommend for a Lowes/HD type dryer that will hopefully last for a long time?

Speed Queen definitely a front runner if you don't have stackable units. Whirlpool & Maytag are good as well and will run you for half the price (again, if not stacking). I have the LG Wash Tower so I trust this LG appliance, but I know others aren't quick to trust LG.

Just do NOT buy Samsung.

I have a Speed Queen electric dryer. It's 7 years old and have had zero issues with it.

Seems like I remember when I bought the SQ washer reading somewhere that the SQ dryer wasn’t really that much better than a dryer you could get at Lowe’s/HD. Nothing wrong with it but not worth the extra money and definitely not heads and shoulders above like their washers are.

It's the washers you have to worry about. I had a $300 Amana from Lowes and it was excellent. Have a high end Maytag now that came with the house and I noticed no difference besides a glass door and more settings.

Man - I just don't think Speed Queen dryers are that much better. Just don't get a Samsung or LG, that's always been the advice I've gotten from people who know what they're talking about.

For dryers, just get a standard brand, the size you need, empty the lint every time, and make sure you have a really good vent to outside.

Just bought a SQ electric a few months ago. Thing is a tank. Only regret is I got the total, no frills model that doesn't have a audible notification.

Again, I'll reiterate that Samsung electronics that aren't cellphones or TVs are complete arse, but my LG is pretty great. Bought the LG Wash Tower when it had recently come out and it is great. It's the only stackable I've ever used that didn't that black mold you see in most front loading washer. It's very likely that the other LG models aren't as good, but I spent $2200 on this system which is a lot more than most HD/Lowe's washer & dryer prices.

Well, I can attest to this. I'm highly fricking pissed off right now. My Speed Queen dryer had just fell out of warranty. A local repair guy said it was the timer. Well, you can't get the part! Unavailable everywhere since March. I call SQ and they give me a date that it will be available (usually about a month away). I've kept calling each month and they keep pushing back the date. 7/28 is the new date and I'm not holding my breath. Sosay they changed manufacturer of the part. So now I have a 5 year old "Speed Queen" dryer that doesn't work. I've called and complained, but unless you are under warranty, they don't give a shite.

$1000 dryer - 5 years old - stored in shed until part is available. I could scream.

Love my Speed Queen washer. Bought the matching DC5 dryer about 6 months ago. I think the timer is already out on it. It dries sometimes and never shuts off. Wished I would've went with the Speed Queen dryer with the dryness sensor instead of the timer style DC5.

Again, I reiterate, I love my Speed Queen washer. The dryer is nothing special though.

Agreed. Samsung appliances have earned a bad reputation. LG appliances are solid outside maybe the fridges.

Whirlpool or Maytag, don't splurge on the dryer.

Not in my experience.

Had washer/dryer set and about every 6-9 months we had something going bad in the one we had.

Had to replace the felt on the drum twice at $100-150 per time. 3rd time it happened I got pissed and threw it out. I still have parts that I had ordered in case something else went out (not the felt though).

Went with Speed Queen and happy since.

And yours is one of many but regardless, most of the outlets following the stuff have LG rated highest and even higher than speed queen with regards to quality and reliability over the last few years specifically for laundry appliances. They are clearly not trash these days.
