Anyone have a remedy to keep them from drilling holes in wood on house? We’ve tried the wooden box with bottle under it. It didn’t work.

My dad used to give us a 36" piece of trim about 3/4" wide to swat them with.

Really think it helped my golf game later in life when it came to keeping my eye on the ball.

We had this problem and got pest control out to spray the house about 3 times a year. Has taken care of the problem for us.

They didn’t work for me at first. Then I swatted one and put inside the bottle. Then it worked like magic.

Permethrin in a sprayer
You can spray the wood or spray into each hole which will kill the new ones as they emerge from their chambers.

Puff Demon Dust in the holes and Viper on the wood. Wait a week puff the Demon Dust in the holes again and close the holes with 1/2" MyMicco termite hole plugs. Hit the wood with Viper every couple of weeks while the infestation is still active. Once they are gone just spray every 4-6 months.

Waiting a week to plug the holes after the first application of dust is important otherwise the dying bees will desperately chew there way out and leave another hole.

I’ve read to spray some kind of citrus on wood. Supposedly, they don’t like it.

I just read that spraying a 50/50 mix of Pine-Sol and water anywhere you have wasps and dirt daubers will repel them. I am going to try it for the carpenter bees, but haven't had the chance to do it yet.

Maybe try a different place. I collect bodies like crazy with mine.

For every 30 carpenter bees you kill with a tennis racket, 60 more arrive.

It'll keep you in shape.

Some kids never grow up. I kill 100+ every spring around my wood barn with a racquetball racquet.

Your box should be made out of a soft wood, such as poplar.
