Does anyone have brick or wood look tiles in their house? Looking for some real world input and photos. Thinking about redoing my kitchen/dining room with the imitation brick. Google has a few pictures but it’s just a lot of the same installation.

Also thinking about wood look tiles for the living room as well. Have a 80lb lab and a large aquarium so I want the durability, scratch and water resistance that a tile would have, but with the appearance of a real wood floor.

Thanks in advance

Did wood floor tiling in the basement and have no complaints at all.

Cold in the winter so be aware.

My dad did it in his townhouse on the bottom floor several years back. One of his neighbors had a plumbing leak and water seeped under the walls and messed up a good portion of his hardwoods. Insurance was paying for it so he wanted to switch to tile but keep the look. Looks great and unless you get down there it is hard to tell it’s tile. He also has a dog and was thinking about wear and tear and accidents being easy to clean up.

Did wood-look porcelain tiles in the basement. Looks great and extremely durable.

That’s why I am replacing wood. Had water leak so insurance is replacing and I think I’m going to just go with the wood tile now instead

I have about 1500 sf of wood look tile in my house bc I have a large dog and he would just ruin any real wood. I love it. Only potential issue is chipping if you drop anything heavy like a cast iron pot or hammer on it. And even if you do crack or chip one it’s not all that hard to replace one tile. Buy spares for this just in case.

Did it one room that the dog will have an accident in. Love it. It I had to do it over again I would try to make the grout lines thinner.

On ours they put the tiles right next to each other and used a “special” grout that could be used on grout lines so small. I also special ordered grout to match the color of the “wood” so the grout lines wouldn’t pop but blended in instead. Looks much better than the thicker grout lines IMO.

We have a dark wood tile that most people can’t tell is tile in pictures. Some people don’t notice it’s tile until they’re up close and paying attention. We also went with a light wood tile for the floors and shower tile in our bathrooms. Both tiles look great and would definitely do it again.

I take it those are the real brick pavers that they cut into a thin tile? I was probably looking into the porcelain brick look tile. I’d love to go with the real brick pavers, but I think that would be pretty expensive for the amount of sqft I’m looking at. The porcelain is like $3sqft vs $10/sqft material cost for the real brick pavers (from what I have seen)

And I’m definitely pushing for a thin color matched grout line for the wood tile. That’s the only think I don’t like when I see it in pictures

Those pavers came from Acme brick company. They are made of concrete. Forgot the price to the dollar, but I think for that area was about $120. That area is 4'x7'. Took 2 1/4 boxes. Still have 3/4 of a box. One just uses regular thinset. Now the sealer is special. That cost around $60 a gallon which I used less then a pint, two coats. Vapors are very bad for you and strong. Have to have moving air. If not, you will get stone and pass out.
