They double shipped my order and trip charged me. Not a pleasant experience.

Big box stores are great for going to grab something you know will be in stock, but the deliveries and online ordering can be sketchy. Just too much volume and places to mess things up.

I came out on the good side of a big store's mistake once though. It was about 15 years ago when we moved into our current house, and we went to a big furniture place and ordered some couches and tables. I think it was one couch for downstairs and a set of end tables and a coffee table, and either a couch or loveseat for upstairs. We were young and broke but needed something for the den and baby nursery, so we went and got something we could afford. I remember the delivery drivers couldn't get the couch up my staircase. We took rails off, took feet off the couch, tried it all, but they couldn't get it to make the turn on the stairs. So we returned the stuff we bought for upstairs and eventually went with a set of chairs instead.

We had bought it on the store's financing, something like 12 months same as cash, filled out a credit app and set a delivery date. After we realized it wasn't going to fit, I called and they processed the return for me over the phone. The drivers had taken those pieces back with them and I had called to ask about returns before they drove away. Couple of weeks go by and I get a billing statement, and it shows the initial purchase, then the return, and a zero balance. They had returned the entire order instead of just what I couldn't use. I do the right thing and call them, tell them I only returned certain pieces, not the entire order. She asks which items I kept and which ones were returned, they tell me they have corrected it, and I will get a new bill sent out. Happens again, I get the same bill showing nothing owed. Call them again, go through the whole bit again, and another bill for nothing comes. This happened like 5 times. I finally gave up and enjoyed the free couch and tables.

I do miss the days when there was a Sears locally. They were hard to beat on appliance availability.

My wife bought a new dishwasher at the Sears Appliance store by Target on Ambassador last year on clearance for 1/3 of the price of others we were looking at. Not sure if they deliver, I met her there and we loaded it in the back of my truck.

I didn't even know the place was there.

We bought a set in July. GE set with large capacity and the atu dispense feature (Highly recommend)

HD- Changed the delivery 3xs (pushing it back over a month). Eventually cancelled the order and got a refund.

Lowes had no inventory availble in the next 3 weeks

We went to Conns. They had just what we wanted and it was $200 less for the same units we found at HD... And... they delivered in 3 days.

Graugnards is a distant relative of wife. Things were a little slow to get replacement parts for washer and dishwasher or new bed because of pandemic but they got things fixed. I’d go to them again.

I bought a gas cooktop from Stanton's. The day after they delivered it, I noticed one of the grates was cracked. They delivered a new one the next day. I don't think Loew's or HD would have done that.

I used them for my new W&D (Speed Queen). They matched and beat any online internet price I could find (Greentoe), and were very prompt with service, delivery, and installation.

Bought a Speed Queen and I did it the year they changed them. Complete POS. It would not clean the clothes. There were videos on the web about it and that year Consumer Reports ranked them last.

I understand most dealers do not sell that new version any more. What was most revealing to me was SQ absolutely refused to do anything about it. I offered the washer back to the independent dealer I bought it from for 50% credit not a month after I bought it. He wouldn't take it. SQ corporate would not do anything.

I assume they have corrected the issues but their unwillingness to stand behind the machine speaks to their attitude towards customers.

A year latter I offered to give it back to the dealer if he would come get it and he would not saying he didn't want any of that model either. I paid THD $25 to haul it off and bought a $500 whirlpool and paid for a 5 year warranty. Thus far no problems.

Screw Speed Queen.
