Any experience with Scott’s Turf Builder?

Last year’s drought followed by heavy rains combined with training my lab in my back yard have left me with a giant dirt patch right smack in the middle of my backyard. I’m trying to decide if I need to use something like Scott’s. Thoughts?

People would need to know your grass type. It sounds like you are referring to Scott’s EZ patch or a product like that.
Turf builder, if I’m not mistaken is what they call just about every fertilizer or W&F that they make…
The problem with EZ patch is that 98.5% of what’s in the bag is NOT grass seed. I think it would be cheaper just to plug, sod, sprig, or seed.
How large of an area?

Get a pro plugger and sneak some bermuda from the local baseball fields (kind of kidding). Fills in quick.

Thanks for the tip
I have two dogs and the only grass that has done well with them is Celebration bermuda. I get the plugs from my dad's yard. When I bought my house the backyard was st aug/centipede and it was dirt by the end of one winter. Zoysia has done decent but the hybrid bermuda gets thick even on the dog's running trails.
I put a couple hundred plugs last spring and they'd filled in after a month or two.

Well now that you mention it, it would be quite easy to sneak the pro plugger into the double stroller.
I'm already thinking of a few spots of thick common bermuda

You two are ridiculous
What’s a better feeling:
A - Drinking a beer after a clean mow
B - Having unanticipated rain minutes after throwing down fert
B happened to me a few days ago and I’m very conflicted.

How far of a gap are you putting these plugs? How long would you expect them to fill in, or do you go back and drop more plugs in the gaps after they start spreading?

That is a great feeling I have yet to experience. For me, I always get the unanticipated rain within minutes after my sprinklers turn off

Ronk mentioned he ferts in the rain. I have unintentionally done that before trying to beat the rain..make sure to cover your unspread fert or it’ll all clump up. Rookie mistake lol

about 6" gaps and they take about 1.5 months to be completely filled in if you keep them watered and they're in full sun. The ones I posted a pic of have been in the ground about a week.
Last year I had a 5'w x 10'l gap between my patio and planter box. I put an 18" wide row of plugs down the center spaced at 6" in March. By July it'd almost completely filled the gap.
