I live in Avoyelles. Ever since the rain on Friday, my back two acres are full of fire ants! I have twenty pecan trees also. Any suggestion on a quick fix.

It's not just you. They're everywhere

Ortho fire ant killer. Use sparingly. Doesn’t take much

Have always liked Bengal fire ant dust. Sprinkle on the beds, will have a mountain of ant corpses on it the next day.

My late father-in-law lived in Mansura and had several acres with about 2 that he kept cut. He'd ride his John Deere lawn tractor and carry that granular ant killer in a can hanging on the back of the engine cover and sprinkle it on every ant pile he came across.
They were especially bad after heavy rains and popping up everywhere. I see nothings changed since he's been dead over 8 years now.

Spectracide Triazicide Insect Killer for Lawns Granules
1-2 tablespoons on each pile and let Mother Nature water it in they are all gone.
You can use a spreader in the spring and then spot treat the couple others that show up

Best kept secret:
Dawn soap.
Mix a small amount in a sprayer with water and spray your hole yard. Gone pecan.
But make sure and do your neighbors’ if you have any.

spread some Talstar granules and be done with them for months. It is kinda pricy but it works very well.

Talstar spray or granules will fix your problem. I use it twice a year and would pay money to anyone that finds an ant on my property. Complete wipes them out for almost 6 months.

Another vote for Talstar. It's not cheap, but the fire ants die and won't be back for months. Most of the dust products will just get the pile to move. You are wasting time and money.

Talstar. It is not cheap but you only need an ounce for a gallon. It will last a long time

I have them in my house now. I've never had this problem before and I don't leave food or drinks out. The elderly lady next door to me always gets rid of the mounds in her yard by doing a simple trick. She takes a shovel and scoops up the top of one mound and throws it on the top of the other mound. She told me that the ants will fight and the "invaders" will go after the queen to kill her. Once the queen is dead the ants move away. It must work because the next day she knocks the mound down with a shovel and the mound doesn't have one ant in it. I just buy cheap plastic bottles of rubbing alcohol and pour it on top of the mound. The alcohol kills them and the elderly lady said that if the queen isn't killed then I wasted a bottle of alcohol. She said to get rid of the ants the queen must be killed.
