Before the religious moratorium, you would find anti atheist threads on the OT just about every other day

I was referring to the POLI-BOARD. That is where I saw the atheist bashing believer threads all the time. I have hardly posted on the CESSPOOL known as the OT.

On the other hand, you can definitely have religious discussions that have little to do with current political issues, and moreover, there is clearly a big demand for these types of threads, as they've been popping up for years now on the PT board, to the chagrin of many PT contributors who are offended by them.

Chicken, Here you Go:

THE SCIENCE, PHILOSOPHY & RELIGION BOARD COMMANDMENTS

1. DO NOT “flame the board.” “Flaming” is the deliberate act of creating a post in order to incite members of the board and invoke a negative response.

2. DO NOT expect any tolerance for statements, opinions, or views that are bigoted, racist, sexist, or hateful. Further, linking to sites that contain such content is prohibited.

3. DO NOT engage in personal attacks on other users. Healthy debate is expected and encouraged, but take the childish insults elsewhere. This is particularly true with regard to visitors from other schools. Moderators will be especially watchful for verbal abuse, ridicule, ad hominem attacks, and stalking.

4. DO NOT post ANY adult or sexually explicit content OR links to adult or sexually explicit content.

5. DO NOT use excessive profanity. Profanity is discouraged, and depending on the context in which it is used, might result in removal of your post.

6. DO choose a subject line that accurately describes the content of your post. Do not use deceptive subjects to attract attention to your post. Do not use one or two-word subjects that provide no description. And do not post in ALL CAPS.

7. DO NOT threaten another user with physical violence or retribution of any nature whatsoever.

8. DO take a minute to check for an existing thread on a topic of interest to you before starting a new thread.

9. DO NOT post anything that could potentially harm (or embarrass) Chicken or TigerDroppings.com.

I really think they should bring the religion threads back to the poli board. This is my opinion. If Chicken wants religion to have it's own board, then so be it, I have no complaints. But religious discussions definitely deserve a place on tigerdroppings.

The bible thumpers aren't even allowed to discuss their thumping on this board right now. At least the tech nerds can still geek out on anything they want.

Launch this new Board ASAP. No further hold ups needed! We all want it, we are all waiting for it eagerly.

A)Should be called Philosophy, Religion, Science Board. (or any different order of those 3 terms).

B)Could also be thought of as the Deep Thinking Board maybe, as that is what it is and the opposite of the OT.

C)Normal TD rules need only apply as BrerTiger Quoted. They are sufficient for the task. Name one problem or issue that TD normal rules does not address? Enforcing those rules however is up to TD staff if they desire to be consistent.

D)We are all just waiting patiently for this Board to be created already. And if any Admin is desiring more help of us in this thread; we do not have a clue more what they want of us unless they come to this thread and fill us in better what they are looking for.

That's a good start, but the one thing it's missing is what to do about people who want to start threads about something connected to religion, but who don't want to start it on the new board.

What should be the rule for deciding when a thread gets pulled off the OT or the PT and removed to the hypothetical new board due to its religious content?

The way I understand it, some threads, like the priest getting caught with gay porn on his computer, belong on the OT. It's just a kind of funny "look at this! haha!" thread, but one without any serious point to it.

Some threads, like the statements read by U.S. bishops against contraception regulations handed down by the Obama Administration, clearly still belong on the PT.

Threads about religion for the sake of discussing religion, would be for the new board. My preference is that it not have the word "Religion" in its title so as not to mislead people that all religious threads must go there, but I'm flexible on that part, because a title is just a title.

The reason I want a religion board is that I want to discuss certain things like the Patristics, church architecture, the Liturgy, episcopal appointments, etc. without having every thread bombarded with awful jokes or PEDOPHILIAOMG!!!!! thrown in everywhere. Some of this was able to be done on the poliboard, but others don't fit on there. And I don't want just Catholic answers, so another site wouldn't necessarily work.

And GM, since I've been here, the poster complaining about religion threads the most has been otto.
