Chicken, I believe I could be of some assistance in policing spoilers on the board. I have read all the source material for both Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, which are the two shows which seem to generate the most complaints about spoilers. With some limited admin powers I could keep an eye open for blatant spoilers that don't have sufficient warning and either add a spoiler warning to the post or delete the offending material before the threads turn into massive bitch fests like what has happened today. It would be nice to be able to discuss these shows without the threads always devolving into back and forth bitching. That is my offer. You can of course take it, leave it, or adjust it at your discretion.

I'm not arguing anything about what was posted today. I knew what CNB was posting as I had seen it before. I'm referring to what has become a recurring issue in most of the threads for those shows and I can save the admins some headache if I can fix these issues before they have to deal with them. Hell, I'm in most of those threads anyway so if I can be useful while there it's no big task for me.

Reader and non reader threads for episodes should be all we need

Though I do remember some readers continually coming into the non reader threads and hinting at things last year (for GoT)

I'm not asking to be an admin. I'm just offering them some assistance. If Chicken wants my help, I will give it within whatever parameters he chooses. I'm just tired of threads turning into bitch fests about spoilers.

This is where I can help. I know the books and can catch these instances before they get too out of hand.

You offer help and people shite on you. It's the nature of the beast.

The problem is, someone who has read the book wants to go to the non book reader thread so he/she can discuss the show not how things differ from the books. One tiny thing slips out, perhaps not even a spoiler, and all hell breaks loose.

I'll support your efforts then. I always hated when the readers came into the non reader threads. Always trying to act like know it alls

I can handle a little shite. It can't be worse than what this one drunk chick did to my room back in undergrad. Shame, I liked that couch.

Support.

I agree someone who knows the source material should be granted powers on the board.

Some people really freak out over there. The Pandorum image was posted before the midseason finale. It got me too, honestly. (then)

GOT threads are even worse. Thought that show closely follows the Source material. With Walking Dead, the brothers Dixon weren't even in the comics. So much is different.
But still enough is the same that you can't discuss it in non spoiler threads. Just need a spoiler thread and a non spoiler thread for every show.

I've read the books. I don't post in any of the threads, but I like the non book reader threads because they discuss the actual show.

I'm not gonna spend any more time making a case for this. If Chicken is interested he has my email I'm sure.

Just funnin' psyche. I got screwed on a poorly labeled Fringe thread a few weeks back. I figured it was on me considering its off air now and I'm late getting in on it

It does seem to be a never ending issue with GoT book readers v watchers and such tho

Yea this isn't going to work, Baloo does a fine job of monitoring the board. Plus people will still get panties in a wad, now if Charles Bronson wanted to be an admini would support

No sweat off my back if they don't accept my offer. I'm sure it would quickly become a pain in my arse, but I thought I'd try something.

Alternative proposal, add a "Posted Spoiler" option to the RA choices. At least Baloo will know what he's getting into when he checks the thread.

Well you have to have posters who don't overreact, like what CNB did. That was posted before In a spoiler thread AND people had seen the movie. However, people had seen it and assumed and went off on an RA spree.
Had a regular movie board poster done that people would have seen the joke behind it and how it was meant to show how people over react.
Putting "spoiler" in the title isn't enough as people will still enter and bitch and say "I didn't know" but really they came in just to complain.
There is no way to actually police it honestly

It wasn't in a spoiler thread. The title was "I hear you like the Walking Dead over here" or something like that. And all he posted was the picture. And the people that RA'd had never seen the movie or the picture before
