I've never tried it but I've heard you can make ice cream out of cottage cheese if you blend it

protein(ultra fast and slow releasing)
Can you say more about this?

Also is the low fat recommendation just a calorie thing?

Cottage cheese is mainly casein protein which is considered slow releasing. If you're trying to cut weight it's a good late night snack because it will help keep you full until morning. Guessing egg protein is more fast acting like whey protein.

I used to do these all the time when I needed protein and crack a regular egg into it for the yolk benefits. I used to buy a case of these at a time bc i ate them so often. Can’t stand them now, I burned myself out on them.

Some studies even show higher egg consumption raises HDL thus reducing LDL/HDL ratio.

Nice to hear. I eat a half dozen eggs per day. I’ll have bloodwork done in the next few months, so I’ll get to see if my lipid profile has changed significantly.

so the protein in egg whites is pretty fast acting

the protein in egg yolks is slower than egg whites due to the added fat that is with in.

overall whole eggs are slower than whites because of the added fat.

but as mentioned cottage cheese is more of a casein protein which is very slow releasing. tends to keep you much fuller longer

its why protein blends that have casein in it tend be much more satiating. Same with foods that have fat vs really lean foods

and yea the low fat recommendation is more of just a calorie thing but also i would rather see people consuming more fat from the egg yolk from a pasture raised source than from a cottage cheese. I dunno many people that can get fresh cottage cheese direct from the farm....so it more of a quality thing more than calorie to an extent

i know many on here think i dont care about the quality of the food...but i do. many times i just say it doesnt have the effect of fat loss like many claim and that for most the health benefits of a diet come from the fat loss

in your case or mine, being people that are already in relatively good shape and doing things right, would much rather see you get some very high quality fats from egg yolks than cottage cheese

some other good fat source you can add to this if you have the calories would be high quality avocado, either slice and put on top or even drop into the blender with it, will have the eggs even fluffier

can add very high quality krill oil, a homemade paleo mayo to the eggs after cooked, kerrygold cheese, kerrygold butter mashed in etc.

good cultured greek yogurt is a great thing. especially if your stomach likes it.

its slower digesting protein so 100% a good thing.

anything high protein is great but some of those yogurts have a probiotic effect.

i know joe defranco promotes the good cultured brand.

Good Culture cottage cheese and Greek yogurt are staples for me. And you can use the cottage cheese to stuff a potato instead of sour cream to give it a protein kick.

I recently tried Nancy's probiotic cottage cheese and I found it to be a bit tart

I prefer the Good Culture brand

For yogurt I've been using the Siggi's Skyr fat free Icelandic Yogurt. It's 100 calories and 19g protein for a 3/4 cup serving.

Picked up a carton of this yesterday and scrambled half of it this morning for a nice 50g protein breakfast.

Tasted like basic training eggs.

Did the job though. Can't beat 250 calories and 50g of protein cooked in under 2 minutes.

ETA: Got mine at HEB so it cost me $4.86 for the carton.

Cottage cheese with blueberries is one of my go to snacks. Tastes really good and very good nutrition

Like others said they are great for extra protein. I’ll cook 2-3 real eggs over easy & then add a cup of egg whites to get best of both worlds. 50+ grams of protein
