A guy from my town is averaging a 6:28 pace. That's quick.

Slowing down.

18.6/6:52
20/7:16

Final: 2:57.07/6:46

Guy from my Tuesday night group is in it. Currently setting a 7:13 pace.

There are like 25 people from the Birmingham area running it, I only know about half but that's insane to me.

It's 65 degrees in Boston right now... those later heats are going to be feeling it. So far everyone I know is kinda behind their normal marathon pace (most are somewhere between 25k and 21 miles.

The fastest of the group is keeping pace though.

Is anyone having issues with the app for tracking the Boston Marathon?

Apparently I needed to delete and re-download it. My buddy bombed around the newton hills. It was also his 20ish time running Boston so I do not think he is devastated.

Aubie, my OCD was turned off today:

My training had me doing 400m x 9 and when it was done I was done.

ETA: Tapering has commenced - taper hurts, it hurts so bad, next week will only be like 3ish miles interval, this week:

----------------------------------------------

So another thing I've learned this training cycle is that I'm following a slightly modified Pfizer 18/55 plan, we shall see if the result meet my expectations this time.

I'm semi tempted to try Daniels 2Q next just to see the difference. The 10 miles at MP last week was much more of a 2Q type run

Did a slow base run last night of 2.49 miles followed by a tempo of 3.10 miles.

Run from the start to the end. Never care about the actual mileage.

Hey I wish I could turn off my OCD brain sometimes, I really do, it just doesn't work that way.

ETA: can we talk about Taper for a second? How much it sucks?! Like, I'm supposed to be eating carbs and calories out the wazoo but can't seem to stomach anything, I'm supposed to be healing but feel more sore and tired than any other point in the training block. THIS SUCKS

if it makes you feel better I felt like I was hobbling to the start line for Grandmas and was legitimately worried about being able to finish. Legs were sore as heck. Kept battling sickness. Just was not having a good time. By the end of the week leading up to the race I felt like a new man.

I find myself having the opposite issue right now. Coming off my sickness im actually feeling really good and am having trouble pulling back. My body's telling my brain I can do more than I know I should be doing. Thinking about running in our local parkrun saturday as my second workout of the week just to do something low key to shake the legs out a bit before next sunday.

Yea it’s been warm as hell here. Has me nervous this marathon might turn into a “just grind it out” event.

Well my friend hit her goal time in London this morning. She was also a top 100 female finisher!

Now I just need to shave 5 mins off my time next year
