Who else is getting their work in closer to tomorrow than not? One more set, then getting my steps in.

This is me.

Usually, as of late, my training sessions straddle the midnight hour, but I'm sick of it. Never really been a morning lift guy, but I want to become one. I want to get the lift done and move on to other things as opposed to feeling like I'm pushing my training as late as possible and cramming it in at the end of the day. I often do the same with my walking/steps, not 100%, but too much. I'm tired of feeling rushed, and I've had too many instances lately of procrastinating all day, saying "I"ll start right after this" until it gets real late and then I get really tired and just say "frick it". I'll do the lift a day late, and it feels like I'm always off schedule.

I don't think there's inherently anything wrong with late training. I've just been doing it that way for so long I want to do things differently for a while.

2:17 and I'm about to finish up a squat workout. Then some bench and farmers walks. I'll be in bed by 330 and at work by 10.

Switched to mornings 2 years ago and won’t ever go back to afternoon or night. Been a game changer for me.

I’m a morning guy. Just finished up at 5:50 am. Bout to shower and get ready for work. Makes the evenings much more enjoyable and relaxing when you workout in the morning

Same. Been about a year.
The first two-three weeks was brutal and didn’t know if I could stick with it because my intensity was way down.
Then I hit a groove. It’s been amazing and I’ll never go back to regular evenings. Every once in a while I’ll hit an afternoon on the weekends and it still feels so good. Like smelling a cigarette after quitting lol

I usually start between 8-9pm - it's been the best way for me to stay consistent with kids and waking up for work in the morning. I don't feel rushed and I sleep fine afterward.

I'd like to be a morning guy but it's hard for me to wake up at 430-5 and go when I usually wake up at 540 every day. My performance is not as good that early in the morning and I feel stressed and rushed the entire time. If my workout could be done consistently in 30 minutes I would probably switch to mornings.

Mornings work for several reasons - I have ZERO excuse not to go. I'm up at 4:30 at the gym by 5:00 done by 6:00-6:15 go home eat breakfast and shower and get ready for work. I find that going in the mornings gives me more energy more focus for the day I am able to avoid distractions boost metabolism throughout the day and I find it makes me sleep better. After work I have too many distractions and can come home to 'rest' and then end up not going etc.

I realize mornings are not for everyone life gets in the way ,kids get in the way, work gets in the way etc. and yes it was absolutely difficult the first several weeks when I transitioned to AM workouts but now it is like second nature.

How do you do it? Mornings are hard to get moving for me?

I usually train Jiu jitsu at the 6am class during the week.

After getting the kids in bed, I’m working out in the garage gym at about 830-9pm.

Can be tempting sometimes to skip a workout at the end of the day and push the program back a day. But, it feels really good when you’ve been looking forward to training all day and you go out there at a good time and get it done.

-Set alarm for 4:30 AM. wake up when it goes off.

-Go to kitchen and make pre-workout drink (currently using Transparent Labs Bulk Black - I rotate different brands every 20 or 30 days as body gets used to one if used all the time)

-Sit on couch reading ipad for 25 min or do some household stuff getting ready for the day.

-after 20 to 30 min the pre workout kicks in I head to gym

-Depending on day I lift for about 20 to 35 min and then do 35 min of cardio on treadmill at 14% incline and 3.0 speed

-come home and drink 50g whey isolate shake

-shower

-get dressed and head to work

-After work I can come home and catch up on things or just be lazy and do nothing. I am asleep by 8:00 PM (I take ZMA supplement and 60mg of melatonin on empty stomach before bed)

It took me about 21 days to get used to this schedule but once that happened I often am up slightly before my alarm goes off and just get up and start getting ready/organized. Gym is not full in mornings and I have no issues using what I need and I find the people that are there in the mornings are more serious and not playing on phones sitting on equipment etc. It's not for everyone but once you get on this schedule it is a breeze to do and gives you the rest of the day to do stuff once done.

I wish I could lift late, maybe I should try. I'm a morning guy. 415 alarm, up by 430, out the house by 445-5. At the gym ar I und 515, workout until 615, sauna for 15-20 min, shower, get dressed with work clothes and walk from the gym to my desk. Gym is in the same building as my office. Work from 7-4.

Hate waking up that early but at 7am I feel fricking great

60mg of melatonin

Is that correct?

I though like 10 mg of melatonin was a hefty dose...

I used to be a 5 am guy, too. Having kids have somehow made it to where it made sense to lift at night. Their day starts at 6 am, so it’s not always feasible to lift early. Eventually I will go back to mornings.

Its going to be different for everyone. For example I see no difference from using 80 or 100 mg than 60 mg. Research shows there are benefits to high dosed melatonin. No, I don't think it reduces fat around the waist like that one 'study' claimed I think there are other benefits similar to how there are benefits to using creatine. It works.

I’ve never gone above 15 mg. 60 feels like a lot. But I also have to cut my 10 mg edible gummies in half. So, maybe I’m a lightweight.

Probably so.

I've taken a 10 mg dose a few times and wake up with a terrible headache.

60mg might kill me.

I've switched to some "nightime" tea that seems to work better for me.

Pretty tired but I just can't work out in the morning. I've tried and I don't stick with it.
