So how much muscle mass can he build in 3 months? Starting from basically zero I imagine he could gain pretty quick at first. Just losing weight will make him look like a cancer patient. Pack on 5-10 lbs of muscle and bulk up in the right places might be more appealing than just getting skinnier.

Agreed and as someone else added he needs to look at adding on muscle and look at this as a re-composition effort.

My normal walking around weight has been 145-150 my entire adult life, until now.

My 16 year old son, who is 5'7", weighs 160 pounds and he isn't fat at all.

You must have really, really shitty genetics.

No offense.

ETA: Your wife is going to Costa Rica two months after giving birth? And you're worried about what you are going to look like at the beach?

If his stats are to be believed, I don’t know that he needs to lose any weight really. He probably could even stand to gain weight. It’s fat he needs to lose and muscle that he needs to gain.

All of this is what I think, personally.

My wife isn’t coming lol. It’s a guys trip I’ve been locked into before we got pregnant. My entire extended family is already aware they’ll be helping that weekend

And no offense taken. I’ve always considered myself blessed that I never really had to put an extreme amount of effort into staying slim. I guess age is catching up to me. As noted earlier, I’m about 10-15lbs heavier than I like to be normally, albeit it is all noticeably fat.

It's too late for the beach trip, Baw.

But you could start getting in shape for the rest of your life.

You can easily lose 10 pounds over the next 3 months just from diet and walking for 30 minutes every day.

You might be better off spending this time on Judo lessons for when you get back home. If she evens senses you getting pumped up for this trip it’s gonna be rough.

Try 75 hard before your trip and pick a diet that’s loaded with protein.

Haven't been 165 since I was 20 years old. Would love to settle around 172 without losing any mass.

My 0% BF weight would be around 175.

I’m still confused how someone 165 can be that skinny fat.

You are essentially the perfect candidate for the Greyskull lp aesthetic template plus 10 min of hard conditioning plus hour walks daily

Then for diet eat in slight 250 calorie deficit with 200g protein

Bottom line is you are the definition of skinny fat and weak. You have very very little muscle.

Huh?

Lifting 3 times a week

Plus daily walks, would be better if it was with weighted vest

Didn’t say anything about 2 hours of working out daily

Or he can just get to 10-12k steps

1 hr of workout + 1 hr walk is 2 hours

3 days a week is meh unless push pull legs then it’s super long workouts. Nobody ain’t got time for that

Just do a protein fast and workout like a normal person. No cheat meals till trip. Cycle the protein fast with reg low cal as needed.

i didnt say anything about ppl....and he doesnt need long workouts, he needs an LP. the workout i gave him takes 1 hour. i told him greyskull aesthetics template

and he needs to build muscle in a very light deficit not do psmf. last thing he needs is psmf as he has no muscle, lowest hanging fruit for him to change his physique is to add muscle

and yes 99% of people have time to lift 3x per week for an hour and walk 45-1hour everyday. its about priorities. i promise im busier than 99.99% of people, yet i manage to do it when in a fat loss phase.

and you keep acting like i told him to do something crazy...i told him lift 3x per week and walk. and like i said, could sub 10k steps total for the hour walk.

sorry but on this one, im right.
