I’ve been playing the same irons for 7 or 8 years now. Id like to get some news ones soon but I need to figure out this rusting issue first.

I wipe them down after the round if it was raining before storing them. They are stored in a storage closet in my garage (not climate controlled). There is no pool cleaner or anything else in there besides some basic lawn maintenance chemicals.

About 3 years ago I started the notice rust on some of my irons. The problem is, as I’ve added clubs over the years those clubs have started to rust as well. I have a putter and wedge that are less than a year old that have started to show a few small rust spots.

This can’t be normal. How do you all keep the rust off your clubs?

Store them indoors.

Do you all keep your clubs inside? I know several people that keep their clubs in their garage and don’t seem to have the rusting issue. Maybe my garage just gets more humid than others. I guess I’ll have to find a place to keep them inside.

I keep mine in my shop which I don't climate control until it gets really hot or really cold. However, the humidity is not really high in there. I keep a small fan running to circulate air on most of the time.

If my clubs get wet during a round (rain) I will bring them inside and dry out the bag and wipe off the clubs.

It’s got to be that you’re storage closet is holding in the humidity. If you can’t store them inside, at least put them just in the main part of your garage.

Yep. In my office as a daily reminder that I need to quit my job and play golf all the time.

I keep my clubs in my truck from about March through October. During hunting season they stay in my bedroom.
No signs of rust that I have noticed on any of the shafts.

I do keep a 56° sand wedge outside in my bucket of balls. It rusts pretty bad until eventually it breaks off at the hosel.
I just replace it with another $24 club from Academy.

Try some 00 steel wool. Works great. Also can use it on chrome to shine it up.

I tried aluminum foil and vinegar on my sand wedge (the one with the most rust) and all it did was remove the chrome.

a real golfer stores them in a climate controlled velvet locker with a security code unknown to even his wife ...

apparently you don't have any velvet ...

I'll bet those are the culprit. I assume you are referring to fertilizers, right? A lot of those will emit corrosive fumes.
