How many knuckles can you see on your left hand at address?

I had to go to a very strong grip twice in my life because I got the shanks. I could see 4 nux. It got me to moving it R to L and hitting it longer but eventually those monster hooks become hard to control. I've gone back to an almost neutral grip slightly on the strong side. Prefer a slight fade with driver and a slight draw with irons. I can hit both with that grip.

I'm right at 2.5 nux.

Might be all I need and it won't get out of control.

I naturally had a strong grip growing up. Got lessons sometime in high school and the instructor changed me to neutral. Until reading this thread, I never really picked up on it. Feel like I have't played the same and I'm 20 years removed from those lessons. I am going back to strong ...

Game will be improved thanks to tigerdroppings!

Some people say to hold the club as if you're holding a bird

That's what I do, but it's a bird that I'm trying to kill

Is that the kind of strong grip we talkin?

Talking about how far you have your left hand rotated on the club and how many knuckles you can see at address.

Mine is neutral. Although I close the face some with the driver.

Same. But, I also use a baseball grip rather than an interlocking grip, so I know my grip is far from normal.

I have a slightly strong grip, and if I don't pay attention it slowly gets way too strong. Once it gets too strong, I start holding off on rotating my wrists (subconsciously), and it results in poor contact.

Once I reset my grip to a more neutral position, it feels good to be able to aggressively move through the ball without snap hooking it.

To fade, I line up straight and my swing path is a little out to in. To draw, I close my stance and swing in to out. I also have the ball a little further back. In both cases I'm trying to keep my hands in front of the club head to trap the ball.

If I want to hit a cut, I just stand over it and hit it.

If I want to hit it straight, I try to hit a draw.

If I want to hit a draw, I pay attention to where it goes OB, then take my drop.

I can see people using a neutral grip but who the hell does the weak? Seems like a recipe for a slice.

That Spieth kid used a weak grip to win the Masters and a couple of other prestigious tournaments.

Hogan also fought off a snap hook. Hogan's rules really don't apply to the average golfer who fights a slice

Disagree. Read the book and I applied his grip, stance and tried working on the swing plane

Had a terrible slice, now I have no slice, but do have the occasional hook.

That said, I'll agree it won't apply to every golfer
