re: Switched to a strong golf grip; Made all the difference in the world.

I recently started playing once a month again and my slice was as bad as ever. I started doing some digging online about ways to correct it and came across videos showing a proper, strong grip. I made the change for my most recent round and the result was way better than I ever could have expected. I basically eliminated the slice with my woods and irons and drastically reduced it off the driver. I definitely need to get out to a driving range to practice it more...but it's made a huge difference. I was holding the club somewhere between a neutral and weak grip. Never thought about changing it. The way I was holding it previously just felt natural to me.
I will say that, in addition to changing my grip, I've focused on slowing down my swing to make good, solid contact rather than trying to kill the ball. Those 2 things combined worked to produce a (relatively) very good round for me.

you are only masking the root problem in your swing, the positive effects won't last.
sounds like you aren't rotating on the same axis as your address posture creating the need for your trailing hands to be in position at contact.

Always had a strong grip. I turn my lead hand absurdly over the top of the driver. It definitely looks wrong, but you can't argue with it when you're hitting the Fairway consistently

The grip is huge, probably the most important thing. A correct grip for your swing trickles down and improves everything else.
With my grip so weak, it was forcing me to rotate and release the club early or the face would be wide open at impact every time. I have played with this grip my whole life.
With is strong, I feel like I don't need to do anything with my hands and I just rotate through.
Where I have really noticed a difference in going strong is chipping and pitching. That is a lot better.

A lot of tour players have really strong grips.

Have you tried doing any deadlift?

A good, strong grip made all the difference for Elin.

Strong grip gives you a ton of power but can be pretty inconsistent. Read the Hogan book guy was a genius and I've found most pros have a grip similar to the one he outlines. You only want to be able to see 2.5 knuckles at most.

Pretty much where I am.
Before, I couldn't see any knuckles

Hogan also fought off a snap hook. Hogan's rules really don't apply to the average golfer who fights a slice.

On the left side of the club shaft.

I used to play a strong grip, went to neutral a few years back since I don't play as much.
I also interlock.

I can see people using a neutral grip but who the hell does the weak? Seems like a recipe for a slice.
I was a pretty little guy for my age when I was a kid learning the game. To compensate and get a little more distance, I learned to play a pretty big draw.
When I grew into my body as a teenager, that draw quickly became a hook. I had to weaken my grip a lot to compensate. My grip isn't as weak as it was when I was playing my best, but it's probably neutral to weak.
Pretty common problem for guys who were little as kids. Ben Hogan had a notoriously weak grip, as an example.

Get ready to fight a hook for the rest of your life.

Mine is neutral. Although I close the face some with the driver.
