I need help brethren. I feel like I'm coming back too shallow and coming over the top on my swing. I've got plenty of nitro and the impact is explosive. I just need advice on the swing path.

Golf is easy if you just let it be easy

No you don't. You need to be properly motivated.

Stand a touch more upright, drop your right foot back a half inch and move your left foot forward a half inch (slightly closed stance). Swing at it like your trying to hit a baseball out to right field but remember to turn your hands over.

Standing more upright (therefore slightly closer to the ball) will fix the shallow backswing (which isn't that important in the grand scheme of things). Attacking the ball from an inside path is though. Barely closing your stance will open up your body to allow room to come down at the ball from an inside path.

Reverse your loop. Feel like you're taking the club way to the outside on your backswing. Almost to an exaggerated point. In reality, you'll be taking it back down the line. From the top, pull the handle towards the ground. That'll create lag and your body rotation will make it "drop into the slot" and give you the inside to put path on the downswing that you're looking for. Watch videos of Sergio's swing down the line for an illustration of this.

I've tried that and feel like I just lose so much at impact. Like I'm swiping at it and not smashing it

Exactly. I took a lesson today. On Flight Scope. Had the same issue as you. What I described above is what fixed me. 1.48 smash factor consistently (1.50 is optimal).

Correcting a big swing flaw usually requires making a change that feels weird. But coming over the top is gonna prevent you from being a good player. You should end up gaining speed if you can incorporate lag and swing on plane. You'll also be hitting from the short grass a lot more often

Without seeing your swing, id guess you're across the line at the top (club shaft pointing to the right of your target) and your misses are a big slice or a dead pull left.

Closing your stance to the line will promote an inside to out swing path, but only if your not throwing it from the top from an across the line position to begin with

You missing a lot of greens or something? If you're over the top consistently, and your ball is going where you want it to go, I'd leave it as is.

If you turn your shoulders on the takeaway, you can't come over the top.

Focus on your grip and backswing and specifically club face position during.

Try to keep your left wrist straight with your arm and make sure you aren't cupping at the top of your backswing.

DAMN BAW, you can go over the top with that beer gut?Congrats. Figured with that keg out front you would be sitting back on your right foot, hitting an inside to out draw all day.

Go sit in the corner. Come back when you can apologize.
