Is the Srixon Q Star Tour the best overall ball out there?

Best overall ball = fits most player's swing speeds at a reasonable price while giving you everything you want in a golf ball.
$30/dozen
3 piece ball
Urethane cover
More spin around the greens than its competitors
Less spin off the tee than its competitors
More mid-iron distance than its competitors

I'm looking for my first ball that I want to stick with. It seems like the q star tour is a no brainer. The only argument I can see otherwise is that my game isn't good enough to justify $30/dozen.

If you want a cheap ball that performs try the Callaway SuperSoft.

Yeah I think that's a fair comparison. I would say the Q Star Tour is the same level/type as the NXT Tour S.
Q Star Tour gives you about 5 more yards on a 6 iron, about 25% more spin on approach spots, and costs $5 less/dozen than the NXT Tour S.

I'd spend the extra money on range balls.
If you can't shoot below 80 with a top flite a Q star won't help you anyways. I don't know if you can or not, just sayin

Yeah I've never broken 90. That's my goal this year. However, my mid irons and wedges are the best part of my game. It's the inconsistency off the tee, long irons, and putting that's killed me. I think a soft ball with high spin around the greens would benefit my approach/short game. As long as I'm not losing more than 3 balls a round, I feel ok not buying the cheapest balls.

I play Qstars (non tour). I'm in the same range as you currently and I like the ball.

Well that's simply terrible advice. And absolutely incorrect.
Matching the right ball with the player is absolutely a good thing. Now he doesn't need to be playing Pro Vs, but finding the right style ball should absolutely help his game. I'm

I recommended them to a buddy of mine and he loves them. He wanted something cheap but soft, especially around the greens. He could be a single digit player if he would practice, or play more than once every two months.
I've hit them and since I don't play much anymore I may go to them. You almost can't feel them when you hit.

I didn't mean what I said in a bad way, just trying to be real. I've actually played back to back rounds with a noodle and Z star to test this. Yeah, the stars hold wedge shots better, but off the tee I really don't think there's much difference unless it's a par three with a short iron.

Wilson Duo Spin... best budget ball I've played.
But I also buy used off of eBay b/c I am cheap. Nike RZN Platinum is probably the best ball for my swing style that is not a ProV

Actually he is correct. There is almost a zero percent chance this guy can tell the difference between golf balls.

I can definitely "tell" the difference between a premium and cheap ball. Whether I can benefit from the better ball is the question.

That's actually a good idea. Get a cheapo, mid, and premium ball, mark our their logos and see if I can put them in order. Off the tee it would be a crapshoot, but around the green and with my putter I bet I could at least pick out the cheapo.

Great marketing diagram. But like everything else about the sport, feel is where its at. The 1 time I bought a dozen Q star and got the second dozen half off, I brought back the 2nd dozen. It didnt suit any facet of my game good enough to keep it in the bag. My strong point is 100 yards in, and I am a high spin driver who loses serious distance off the tee. I am currently gaming a Titty velocity which has similar spin characteristics (for me) around the green as the Q star. but it knocks off some spin on my drives and rolls out a bit more for me. Like shafts, golf balls fit your swing. Just have to experiment till you find one that works for you.
