Is it worth it to buy new clubs?

I use clubs that came out around 2001 and like them a lot. They're cavity-back and seem to be pretty forgiving and they have oversized heads(Titleist DCI OS). I know technology has changed, but are there newer clubs that are much more forgiving? I'm going to get fitted at some point but not in the very near future.

To me, the best buy going is a new set from a model two or three ago. You can find unhit sets all over the net that have as good of tech as you'll find in current model year clubs, but at a much, much lower price.
I know I keep plugging them, and they are old, but look at the Adams CB series(I think there are 3). You may still find unhit sets, and the cavity weighting, feel, and performance are all top notch.

If you are satisfied with them, no one is going to say you have to get something new.
But 16 years is a long time and depending on how much you've played them and how different your swing is, you would probably benefit from a new set regardless of the change in technology. But the forgiveness has really been the biggest leap of the larger GI irons.

Upgrade, yes.
Upgrade to brand new stuff? Not a must IMO. You can find quality gear from 5 years ago and you'll be satisfied.

Absolutely, also make sure you go see one of those baws with that computer that tells you all those numbers, make sure they sign a clause saying if you still continue to miss the center consistently you get your money back

Iron fitting was very thorough. I didn't hit it the ball very well during the fitting. I'll blame it on the drastic weight difference I was experiencing but I can't be sure. The clubs felt very heavy in my hand but I oddly liked the feel just getting get comfortable with it within an hour was tough. Very knowledgable. I haven't pulled the trigger on the irons yet but I plan to.
I actually had an opening come up with work on Friday morning. Called him Thursday evening and booked. pretty painless.

I'm still hitting my Titleist DCI 822OS (circa 2002).
Every so often I go to a demo day or club shop and hit something new... I just haven't found anything that has merited a change yet.

I'm stubborn and went in with the idea of the Mizuno JPX 900 forged and that's the fitting I left with. Got fitted for KBS Tour V extra stiff shafts.
Honestly, I hit the new Taylormades the best but the mizunos just looked so good to me. I hit those second best.

I was torn between the JPX 900 forged and the 765s. Went with Srixons because I like the classic look better. They were also a tad better with distance off the toe. You feel the miss, but only lose 10 yds max.

Any good drills for hitting of the heel? For some reason, I was hitting almost everything off the heel. It was annoying me.
