Thread on the OT referenced BC as turning to shite recently. Any truth to it? if so, what happened?

Played there a few weeks ago and the greens were awful. Hardly any grass on them and covered in Poa. Was terrible to see because it is one of my favorite courses around BR.

Pros: fairways are in good shape
Cons: poa on the greens and rock hard green side bunkers.

I played there on Saturday before Easter and the greens are unplayable. The course should be closed until the greens improve, or at least offer a reduced rate.

Why this? You do realize that BREC courses would be much more expensive if they were private?

When BC is playing great like it has for a long time before this spring, I could walk it for $30 on the weekend. No other place around offers that kind of value.

I've been impressed BC was as nice as it was considering how much traffic the place gets. I think they deserve some slack if things aren't up to par at the moment.

I’ve never played partly because I keep hearing it’s bad.

F BREC for letting BC fall into its current state.

F BREC for not reducing the rate to match the current course conditions.

BREC golf is run poorly at the top. But beaver creek is especially disappointing. It’s not just the current greens conditions. But the overall atmosphere there is putrid. There is NO attempt to provide good customer service….proshop and snack bar. It’s as if you are bothering the staff for help.

The driving range used to the BEST within the area. They used to keep the ropes spread out wide so you had plenty of room to hit. They also shrunk down the size of that tee box….my guess is to reduce the frequency of cutting. It’s either laziness or an attempt to reduce payroll. Either way, unacceptable.

Ditto this. We played a league event there recently and Poa aside, this was the worst we’ve ever been treated post round in 16 years. The no beer sales before noon on Sunday is ridiculous, so a lot of guys were really looking forward to a post round beer. There was 1 very unenthusiastic fat young woman behind the plexiglass window and she wanted no part of actually serving us. Then, of course, the beer was barely cooler than room temp.

Terrible

Great layout! I hope they get it back in shape.

Yes, BC has turnt to garbage lately. It does this every now and then but BREC pulls its head out of its arse and fixes it.

I heard recently that BREC has changed how their allocating funding though... look for SM and BC to look worse than what you're use to.

The beer thing is a Zachary law. Brec has no control on that part.

Perfectly ok if y’all don’t play BC.

Another few weeks and PoA will be gone. Fairways are nice. Not sure I agree with driving range comment. I’ve hit it 4x and last couple weeks. Good luck finding practice facility free to all like the chipping and putting area.

It has been crazy crowded due to copper mill shut down.

There is nothing free at BREC. If you live in EBR, you’re paying to subsidize BREC. Take a look at your property tax and see how many mills BREC is collecting. They are getting $560 a year from me, whether I step foot on a BREC park or not. We should demand more and expect more.

Careful with your sound reasoning.... some jackass may start a thread criticizing your take as a tax payer.

They are only cheap to people from outside the parish. People that live in EBR pays for the "cheap" golf.

And much of BREC does not get a foot stepped on it. They own tons of property that is crap. Some of the worst baseball fields in existence for instance.
