Sounds like it's time for you to getting in a few short game practice sessions.

I've had some rounds like that. Usually at a course like an RTJ where they've got massive multi tiered greens.

Rarely does it all come together for 3-4 consecutive days.
That's beyond frustrating.
I played the Southern Junior Championship at Keene's Point in Windermere about 11-12 years ago and had the same problem. I shot a 78 the first day hitting 16 GIR, used 6 different putting grips during the round. Went out and bought a new putter that night, shot a 77 hitting 15 GIR the next day. Played with Sam Saunders, who had just committed to Clemson, and had him laughing every time I hit an approach shot to within 15 feet and was just hoping to two putt, while he was draining everything in sight.
Two weeks later couldn't hit a fairway or more than 11 GIRs, but the putting came back and I was shooting +1, +2. It's those rare rounds once every year or so where it all comes together and you get a quick glimpse of what your game could be.

Wow. You sound like a very good golfer

Distance control???
You could hit all 18 GIR, but if you putt 60 footers all day, it ain't fun. So is approach shot distance control the issue, or you just can't make a 3 footer???

I had some long ones, a few 30-40 footers, a few 20 footers, a few inside 6 feet.
Distance control was okay on some, bad on others. Direction was horrible all day.
Basically just the worst putting you can imagine.

Shot 73 in a tourney one time with 38 putts (16 GIR).
Easily the most frustrating round of golf in my life.

I did it twice at squire creek in the mid am. Crushed the ball for 2 days in a row and missed the cut because of 80 putts. ??

We've all had it happen, it sucks, hell today I birdied 3 of the first 4 out the gate and shot 1 over on the front and had 3 other real good looks

Ouch. Lemme guess, you're front of the green on 18 and the pin is back right.
You get on the wrong side of those swales and you're going to 3 putt a lot

I wasn't all the way on the front but didn't get it up that swell, left myself about 20 ft, then knocked my next one 6 feet by, missed it
Part of it was not giving a frick after my first putt

I had similar issues, this is what I did.
Cut putter shaft 2", put on Fatso grip. Did put my eyes over ball at address, and I used opposed hand grip to eliminate wrist hinging.
On my last read before address, plumb bobbed for line.
Addressed ball, kept my eyes, not on hole, but where my line is perpendicular to the hole
Pendulum stroke
It helped me shave several strokes off of my putting, but now it's mainly just confidence

Cause you just know you're not 2 putting from down there

You can be a great putter, but if you get in the wrong places at OC it won't matter.
2, 4, 9, 10, 14, 16, 17 and 18 are mean.

I caddied for my 9 year old son once in a KidsGolf tournament. He shot a 105 with 55 putts. 55!! I explained to him that if he could've just 2-putt every green, he would've shot mid-80's, by far his best score. So then I asked him "What do you need to work on?" He says "My driving". Kids!
