Not sure if you’re still looking, but Falcon Point is running a 35th anniversary deal. For a YEX, it’s $250 initiation, $320 a month carts included. Over 40, $350 initiation, $350 a month.

I’ve been out there since 2013. We have a good group of guys, with a good dogfight every Friday, both gross and net games on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The MGA is very well supported and gets a bunch of guys every 3rd Saturday. Plus you get access to all the clubcorp places in Houston and across the country for a cart fee.

Shoot me an email at hehateme2285@gmail.com if you’re interested.

If I was you I'd forget joining a club and play Wildcat as a home course.

Best underrated club in the area is Riverbend in Sugarland. It makes you use every club in your bag .

It makes good golfers great.

Is the houstonian golf course now called black hawk? Man I used to love that course. I grew up in Houston, but left about 15 years ago.

Riverbend is in good shape, theyre still doing a bunker renovation. Good friend is assistant pro there. Didnt know they had reciprocal with Club Corp since Club Corp seems to own most of Houston, like 20 courses.

FWIW, Cypresswood membership is $175 a month for both courses, $15 cart fee each round. Also gets $20 half hour lessons

Clubcorp does not own Riverbend. Riverbend used to have reciprocal privileges with the Briar Club, which the members (especially young guys living inside the loop) loved. Briar Club terminated the reciprocal in 2018, members complained, and this Clubcorp reciprocal deal is what they came up with as a replacement. Non-member play is limited to 2X per month and is not allowed from noon Friday thru noon Sunday. So while the whole thing is a joke (Needless to say, Clubcorp doesn't give you access to any swanky River Oaks pool clubs to take your girlfriends to) it shouldn't really influence your evaluation of Riverbend unless you play a lot during the week when the course is empty anyway.

I recently went and toured Riverbend. I liked the course a lot. How are the membership numbers for younger guys(sub 40)?

Let’s play a round sometime. I have yet to meet any other members and I’ve been there over a year.

Its nice theyve bern been doing a bunker renovation, played it about a month ago. Their assistant pro is a friend and we worked together at Cypresswood before he took the Riverbend gig. Fun course.

Bump... I’m moving to Houston in September with my wife. Are these recommendations still relevant? We’re both late twenties.

She’s working downtown so we were going to rent in the Heights for a year and get to know the area then purchase a house in an area we like. Thinking Katy or Woodlands right now.
