How significant is the difference in the 2 systems? In what ways?
I've never played a single game on either, so I don't have a point of reference.
TIA

pretty much
if you are buying, dont waste money on a 360
the game producers won't make the good games for it after another year or two

Get your kid an X-Box One dude. Your kid will be pissed if you get him an360 (and rightfully so).

The same as if you were to buy an iPhone 4 vs the iPhone 6

I've had the 360 for about a year (behind the times, I know)...is it really worth it to shell out another 350+

its like asking the difference between vhs and dvd. just buy the Xbox One. I just got the best buy deal for 429, kinect, 2 controllers, and two games. the normal package with kinect and one controller was 499.

OT Lounge vs Gaming Board
Which board is more suited to gaming threads?
But to answer your question: The Xone is the superior piece of hardware. The biggest problem right now is that quality games are in relatively limited supply. That will change over time, of course. If you don't mind a small amount of choices in games, then Xone is the clear way to go. And it does much more than games; it's more of an entertainment system.
The 360 has a lot of choices in terms of games. Some of the best ever created are available right now; you don't have to wait. But it is not nearly as good as the Xone in terms of hardware; the system is over 10 years old.

You get him whatever system his friends are playing on, and you're an a-hole if you don't.

In about a year or so they won't release any new games on 360 (most already don't)
So sure you'll save a couple hundred on buying a 360 but it'll be a dust collector once you get bored with whatever games are on there.

He has a 360.
I'm wondering if it is worth replacing with the One.
The comment about the Iphone 4 and 6 worries me. There is not a significant difference.
And I'm not cheap. I'd love to spend the $ but not if he is going to be underwhelmed.
I guarantee HE already knows if it is better. I'm trying to find out without asking.
ADMIN: Please move to game board if that is more appropriate. Didn't even know there was one.

iPhone 3 vs a 6 is a more app comparison

if your kid regularly plays his 360, he'll be ecstatic about getting the XBone

Not even close. The difference between ps3 and ps4 is black and white vs color tv. But the difference between xbone and 360 is not that big.
I owned an Xbone from day one, and sold it. Stuck with 360, the difference was not worth ditching the 360.
