Why do people rage when they get thirsted in BR games?

I don’t get it. You got knocked and all the guy wants to do is finish you off. I don’t get it. Maybe you should not have gotten knocked in the first place?

It’s annoying when they are getting shot by others and just thirst you as a troll instead of trying to save themselves or make a smarter play. There’s a certain malice behind it that is infuriating.

Knocked 3 people in a squad the other night and the last guy got me from 100m or so away. Instead of picking his boys up or fortifying to defend from another advancing squad. This guy built a Great Wall all the way over to me just to thirst me

Now those are the types of stories I like to hear.

I don’t know if Fortnite has changed since I quit playing it, but Blackout actually continues to reward you for kills (10 points a kill.). I want to say Fortnite would reward you for kill up to a certain amount, but I’m not sure.

ETA: you got to think of it this was too. He knocked you. Which, in his mind maybe, means he knows you have friends. Those friends could possibly revive you while he’s reviving his friends. And then the process starts all over again. Or he could end you, revive his friends and move on.

Disagree, I was all about ruining someone else’s game back when I played Fortnite more so than I cared about winning in Fortnite.

Winning is luck in 95% of matches due to the millions of variables. I get my fun from making other teams have to start a new game, or at least making it that much harder to get a W.

I’d disagree with that 1st statement. I’ve won games at pretty consistent %s throughout all seasons in all modes. Yes, some luck is required (especially in solos), but there are tried and true methods to put yourself in positions to win. Pray someone doesn’t show up wipe you while you’re low from a close fight, bc that’s the worst thing that can happen

I only ever played squads consistently and had a 12% win percentage. No clue if that’s good/bad, probably average if I had to guess. But even when I played daily I was only ever an average player.

I typically needed a lot to go my way for me to clutch a win lol.

I was reading about this on reddit and I didn’t understand.

Like, the point is to survive and to win, you gotta either eliminate others or hide away. Am I supposed to not finish you off? Like Idk

The game is about surviving. If you give up positioning and getting an advantage just to eliminate a downed player, that's dumb. If you are already in an advantageous situation, go ahead.

If I’m down someone I’m killing them 9 times out 10. There will be no reviving of that person.

As long as it’s not your own teammate, why do you care about how the person who downed you chooses to play?

I actually get a good laugh when they come to finish me in an open field then get headshot two seconds later

Because it's stupid.

Scenario #1
I'm solo squadding and down 1 person while the others are trying to come get me. Should I #1 wait for the delay and finish or should I #2 get into a better position to kill all three?

Scenario#2
I'm in a 1v2 and down a person but the other team mate is in a 1v1 build and won't get to me. Should I #1 finish the downed player so they don't spy on me or #2 keep him alive but get into a 1v1
build and start healing?

Answer is 2 and 1.

However, newbs and toxic shite heads only care about that single elimination when they could get more by playing smarter.

The risk/reward factor come into to play here. Leave the guy alive as bait for his friends and ambush? Or get the guaranteed kill? The risk in leaving him alive is him shouting out your coordinates to his teammates.

How in the world is killing a downed person toxic?

I get “strategy”. Of course do what’s best for you to finish the team. I’m just asking why would YOU be upset about the way someone kills you??

If they’re thirsting and your teammate kills them and revives you, are you still mad?

Been playing video games my whole life, but what the frick does “thirsted” mean? I even googled it and I see it’s a Fortnite thing, but I still don’t get it.

Because it's mostly by bad players who have no intention on winning the game

So in these BR games, if you're on a team, instead of dying right away you get knocked and can only crawl, and you have a timer where you're essentially bleeding out. Before the timer runs out your teammates have an oppotunity to revive you. But somoene from the opposing team can finish you off before you can get revived, and that's apparently "thirsting".

So what I can gather is they're getting pissed because they feel you need to do the more tactical thing of using you as bait because if you're down, that means you have teammates still in the game. So they think you're more worried about getting kills than winning the game.

ETA Sounds like a crybaby term made up by "hardcore" gamers.
