I would buy that if I could run my downloaded movies from the computer on a thumb disk on the xbone. I do not plan on ever buying a disc again, so this appeals to me.

The only platform I'm set on ohysical media right now is Nintendo platforms. That's just because they have no idea how to set that shite up and it's hard to get back your games once they are lost.

Not sure how well an all digital one would do considering all the backlash they got about used games. If anything that proved people still care too much about trading/selling games and using services like Gamefly/Redbox. Doubt that rumor is true.

I would buy it or trade my current One in for it.

I'm sure anyone with a decent Internet connection who already owns a One would do the same. So 50-75% of the Microsoft Market

Why? because like it or not it's what the UI / Kinnect / HyperV OS was designed for, not popping in and out disc. Seemlessly switching from one local application on the hard drive to another. And like it or not all digital media is the very realistic near future for gaming, we've discussed this 1.3 million times here. no point in arguing. Steam Model, death of brick & mortar stores (Blockbuster), etc. It's hilarious the uproar the PS fanbois stirred up about The One's E3 debut on the subject, yet had been downloading games Day 1 for a year from PStore at that point. ignorance.

Go to your computer right now.
Go to Control Panel > Hardware/Devices.
A "Xbox OS System" will show up if on the same network
Install driver automatically
Right click on most media files
"Play to > Xbox OS System"
Instantly playing on your One.

I watched 1080p Bad Grandpa on mine tonight.

If you have windows 8, you can use the > devices> play> Xbox one. And just stream it to the Xbox. Just need to download a media player app in metro mode that plays .mkv. I have been doing this and it works perfectly.

and VLC will be coming out soon

This also works with any video playing in the metro internet explorer browser.

I agree with this. Once you go digital, discs suck. Steam has spoiled me. My ps3 is still all discs and it almost stops me from using it.

Just FWIW, pretty much everyone on here who bought a disk game has come out and said they'll be going all digital in the future.

Nothing worse than "Xbox go to Forza" before realizing Forza isn't in your disc drive.

Right, almost all of my PS3 games were digital, the PS3 started Day 1 Digital back in 2012, I had NCAA 12 and NHL 12 digital and all but 1 of my PS4 games are digital.

But that doesn't include the over 50 games I rented from GameFly, beat, and then sent back as well as a couple from Redbox.

There's just too many games with ~12 hour single player and no online that I'm just not going to pay $60 for and then never touch again like say Dishonored.

Until Gamefly releases a console app or someone else offers a digital rental service where you can just download the game like normal and play it for however long as long as you have a subscription then discs are a must or games like that need to be $40 max.

Xbox Live's Major Nelson hints at 'competitive pricing' for digital downloads

Xbox still hasn't given up on it's vision of the Steam model and if what Major Nelson is saying on top of the all digital Xbone then it looks like they have figured out a way to slow roll it and get people on board.

Maybe this is what they should have planned from the start instead of trying to force it on people but either way I would bet anything this is them trying to get to that point.

I don't think a game should be $40 just because it's a 12 hour game

i hope you got good interwebz

also you can't swap out HDD on Xbone

if this is true I will probably get one. Only one of three PS4 games i own is disc(FIFA). This all digital would be good for me to own for just the XBONE exclusive games.

I think that gets overblown IMO. You don't have to keep them all installed. On my pc I only install some of them and just download later or delete one if I know I don't want it for a while. 1 tb is a lot of games.

Game data also gets saved in the cloud, so if you do redownload it you will have all your progress.
