I just don't think Nintendo is all that concerned about losing future space for an industry event that has mattered less and less each year.

You say that but last year was off the charts, at least for Sony. I expect Microsoft to have a huge E3 this year.

And yes I will buy the NX just like any handheld or console Nintendo releases. I just hope they stay committed to the traditional gamer like it seems they have somewhat tried to get back lately. After the GameCube they kind of threw Nintendo fans aside in order to grow their marketshare with gimmicks and content for the masses, only thing is those people left and now only the hardcore Nintendo fans remain.

ETA: I love Nintendo. It's far and away my favorite gaming system, and yes I went on a rant below.

OP:

Do you think you will buy it?

Absolutely

Will it fail or succeed?

Like the wiiu, it'll probably be awesome and tons of fun with great Nintendo Platforms and a few cool new editions, but slammed by the critics and other morons because it can't play call of duty or whatever dipshit reason people have for attacking it.

frick third party games. Nintendo makes fantastic games themselves with damn near infinite replayability, and I have no problem shelling out money for a console dedicated to letting me play the latest installments of Mario, Kart, Zelda, Donkey Kong, etc...

The handheld controller/Gameboy hybrid was awesome. I could play games on it while I watched TV, or more importantly, while my wife watched TV.

And all of the morons who kept saying "but but the handheld controller is dumb and kept developers away and blah blah whatever", Nintendo sold a "procontroller" that was a normal controller and worked with almost all of their games.

The biggest problem the wiiu faced was marketing and 30something hardcore gamers that couldnt get past the "Nintendoness" of a Nintendo console. They didn't separate it enough from the Wii in the beginning, so average people didn't even realize it was a new console, then they didn't market or provide the procontroller to the masses.

But make no mistake, it's a great console and lots of people like it.

I sure as frick hope not. Mario, Zelda, Kart, Splatoon, Donkey Kong, etc... Are all great fun games. They looked great on a big screen run through a console.

They're great for kids and they're relaxing fun things to play as adult as well. Most of my younger cousins and my friends younger cousins and siblings loved the WiiU, but a bunch of 30 something tech blogging gamer freaks shite on the console since day one because it didn't appeal and market directly to their need for ultra graphic achievements in high paced competitive third party gaming.

I come home from a brutal day at work and the last thing I want to do is play call of duty or battlefield where I have to try my hardest and get furious and it's just adding stress to my life.

I'd much rather come home and race as an Italian plumber driving in a hover motorcycle through a colorful keyboard race course with matching music shooting bananas and shells at dinosaurs and mushrooms.

I really hope they bring back Rush 2049, I'd give up weeks of my life immediately.

If they could seamlessly blend a 3ds with a console and allow you to switch back and forth at will, i.e. an upgraded concept from the game pad, that would be great. But I hope they go with a more powerful console and beefed up dedicated games.

The images from the new Zelda look awesome.

I agree with you. Maybe I'm just in a different phase of life than most of the people on this board but I play my Wii U more than my PS4 or PC these days, mostly because I can play it with my 2 kids. My son and I still occasionally make Super Mario Maker levels for each other to beat and if we play Super Mario 3d World, all 3 of us can play together with me using an old Wii-mote and nun-chuck. My son just discovered we own Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze so we've been playing that too and he's been asking about Smash Brothers because he saw a video of some kid playing it on Youtube. I could see us just sticking with the Wii U for a while even after the launch of the NX.

As far as the NX is concerned...
Will I buy it? I don't know. I've just accepted the fact that I'm going to be behind the tech / gaming curve for a while due to kids and other responsibilities so if I buy one, it won't be at launch. I also know so little about what it actually is.

Will it succeed? God, I hope it does. I think the gaming industry is better off having Nintendo be the crazy outsider doing their own thing, so I hope it's profitable for them if not an outright phenomenon.

Is this Nintendo's last console if it fails? I really hope not but maybe. I know everyone keeps saying they should just go third party but I prefer them being in control of their hardware, specifically their controllers, and I'm afraid they'll lose their identity if they give that up. They have a history of pushing gaming forward with the NES, SNES, N64, and DS. I also really liked the Gamecube controller and the Wii U gamepad. I have mixed feelings on the Wii-mote but it could be a lot of fun for the right games.

Does Nintendo morph into a hand held/mobile company if it fails? Maybe for a much smaller market than what they're trying to serve right now. I could see myself buying the kids a dedicated handheld gaming console rather than just giving them my phone when they're bored, but I think I might be in the minority there considering the number of kids I see on their parent's iPhone's while in Dr's waiting rooms and restaurants.
