I've played all of them I think except for Atilla which I've only played a demo of.
Medieval 2 may be one of the greatest video games of all time. I used to put in the cheat code to unlock all factions and crush people with the Papal States
The best one since Medieval 2 in my mind is Warhammer.

I've only played Rome 1 and Empire. I tend to play it on hard/very hard and end up losing interest because I get my arse kicked.

My experience with Total War games is that they consume my life, so I stay away now. Great games.

I play Shogun 2 and Medevial 2 on steam all the time. Medevial 2 is probably my favorite game ever accross platform and genre. I still play a few games a year.
In Medevial you have to either be a non-Catholic Civilization or you have to go all out Catholic. My current game every single cardinal in the college of Cardinals is mine. So I always run the pope. I just excommunicate and then set a crusade against everyone I fight. I've probably played that more than any other game.

The original Rome: Total War is my favorite. Medieval 2 was great as well. I've had trouble getting into Rome 2

I actually have only two games downloaded on my computer......Football Manager 17 and Rome: Total War lol.
It's not a game I play on the regular, but it's fun every once in awhile until I expand and the game decides it's had enough and makes everyone revolt, while some random empire becomes strong as frick and wipes me out.

TW- Warhammer is part of next month's Humble Bundle, meaning you can unlock it for about $12 and then get an additional few games at the start of March.
This month's, by comparison, had Xcom 2 as the unlock and several other games including Ryse Son Of Rome and SteamWorld Heist as the other titles.

Rome 2 sucked imo. I couldnt figure out how to play it.. Much harder to figure out than medieval 2, empire and rome
