They implied that but they never said for what.
It could be PS4/PC, it could be PS4/PC/Xbone, or PS4/Xbone. Who knows.

I disagree. As long as they make a profit, they will keep them coming out. People said the GameCube would be their last after its commercial failure then the Wii came out. Nintendo has a trend of having a wildly successful console then a failure then another success. I think Nintendo will be the only console left in 20 years

That's depending on them having a successful console next round. If they don't then they probably won't stay in it.

I know a lot of people felt that at some point, Nintendo would drop out of the console market and just produce games, but that would kill their greatest fetish: you only being able to play their games in one spot.

This is why I don't know why anyone's first inclination is "I'm gonna get this on the PC!"
Maybe when the game is $10.00 in a couple years on a Steam sale after bug fixes and performance tweaks, and affordable gaming PCs run rings around the recommended system specs.

It's bad, but isn't unplayable. We've seen much worse AAA titles with truely unplayable games at launch.

You are correct. Pretty sure FF13 was locked at 720p and 30fps at launch on Steam.

They're doing worse though. Wii U is selling worse than the Cube and doesn't have the sales of a powerhouse to compensate (as 3DS sales have taken a large decline).

I went back to confirm and thought 1080 was doable but 1440 wasn't. Remember the only non-indie titles with this that wouldn't allow me to play @ 1440 was Metal Gear and FF, but think 720 is correct.

Umm because usually it's more fun to play games at 1440p and maxed out FPS? Not all releases have issues like this. In fact, the majority don't.
I'm not sure why consolers settle for 1080p 30FPS
