I haven't been that excited for a game since I bought Ocarina of Time on the wiiu and saw Hyrule field for the first time again.

Nintendo does what they do with their properties extremely well and I will always buy their consoles.

Cannot wait for this game.

Agreed. The timeline stuff is interesting on it's own, but I treat every Zelda game as it's own thing and leave it at that.

I just treat it like Battlestar Galactica

Just finished all of that. The game looks incredible. Tell me that doesn't look and feel like something straight out of a Miyazaki movie? Zelda has always been a franchise of risks, but man this is the biggest change yet. I love what I'm seeing out of this and how they are harkening back to the original Zelda game.

My favorite thing so far is the beginning. No hand holding. No tutorial. Just plops you in a world and sets you free. The adventure you have is up to you. LOVE the tribute to the first Zelda with the old man at the beginning outside of the cave.

It really is great that they're revisiting the original spirit of the series with this one. I loved Skyward Sword actually, it was probably my favorite behind MM and LttP, but this is a welcome shot in the arm.

I only wish it was coming sooner. Haven't been this hyped for a game in 10+ years.

Anyone else get chills when Link ran into the field after emerging from the ruins?

Not necessarily. Even if it wasn't added till a bit later it's clear that it's steered the development of the games since. Skyward Sword was made as a genesis of the universe with explanations/origins for several of the recurring themes (the Master Sword, the constant reappearance of Zelda, Link and Ganondorf).

BOTW appears to have several strong clues as to which timeline it occurs in and placement of several landmarks seems to be consistent with OOT.

seriously considering buying a wii u just to be able to play this. re played OOT a few months back and just stopped my skyrim replay last week. watching some of the game play kinda makes me believe itll be a combo of both.

as much as I love FFX, aside from the laughing scene, I disliked the linear game play through 3/4 of the game.

I feel pretty certain this is the final Zelda on the timeline and seems to be from either the defeated or childhood link timeline (leaning towards the former).

Wonder what this is. A few people pointed it out in the trailer but this is the clearest view of it so far. Doubt they'd put it there without any way to get to it so I wonder if there will be flying in this one as well. Then again it could just be like the City in the Sky from Twilight Princess.

Could be Skyloft.

That's what I was thinking but wasn't Skyloft stationary? This appears to be moving.

I guess that's not something that would necessarily be consistent between separate games though.

I just watched the entire thing and that is absolutely incredible. Wow, I haven't felt this way about a game in a long time.

So for the last couple of weeks Nintendo has been posting short BOTW teaser videos on their various social media accounts. Here is the latest one.

Unfortunately the direct tomorrow is 3DS only but I can't help but think that they're building up to something. Perhaps the rumored September NX announcement? Maybe we'll get an actual release date for this game.
