Just picked up a set for myself. Free shipping to boot. Nice deal. Thanks for the heads up.

3 ft cable? I don't think I can do this. I need at least 6 foot or so.

Thinking about it. What will the difference between this and the standard xbox headset be?

I don't know. What I need is something with a cord long enough for me to sit in the recliner in my huge arse living room. Will this do it? 3 feet seems really short.

3 ft is 3 ft Broke. Sounds like you may need to get wireless ones if you sit that far away from your tv

eta: They are a lot easier

Just go home, find 3 ft of rope, tie one end around your neck and the other to your entertainment center. Then take a running jump into your recliner......

I don't understand what the cord length matters. How far do you hold your controller from your face?

Length from the system to your head, genius.

Get some x41s off ebay. They are 7.1 surround and are awesome. They usually run $50-80 depending on when you get them and condition

Its a world of difference for shooter games and rpgs. On call of duty and halo, you can hear any footsteps loud and clear around you so you know they're coming. On games like skyrim, it just sounds awesome

I'm either missing something or am being trolled. I don't come to the GB often so I'm thinking it's the latter.

My Xbox sits by the TV, my recliner sits around 8 feet from the Xbox. I need a cable that will reach that far since it's a wired headset. My turtle beaches are 16 feet. This thing is 3 feet

It's not the length of cord from the controller to the headset that he's talking about. This isn't a wireless set, so it's the cord running from his xbox to the headset that's the problem. Too short and he has to sit really close to his TV.

I'm new to these types of headsets, so I'm about to sound really dumb. Do they not plug right in to the controller?

For the regular standard xbox headset, yes. For headphones yes and no. If they are wireless, you have a receiver plugged into your xbox and it sends a signal to your headset which is only plugged into your controller. If they are not wireless, you not only plug into the controller, but the xbox as well so there would be another set of wires running from the headset to the xbox/tv.

Big difference from these and the default ones that come with the system is that you get all the game sound in the headsets, not just the chat. So to the controller is for you mic, and to the system is everything else.

Ohhhh gotcha. Well in the specs it says there is a "AudioMixer Cable" that is 12 feet. Is that the cable that goes to the console?
