The last few weeks this title has been compared to Harvest Moon on GC and SNES. Multiple podcasts have gave this game huge props, calling it an Animal Crossing/Harvest Moon hybrid. Now Harvest Moon is one of my favorite titles from the GC generation so I had to check it out. Only being 10days in this game is everything I would want it to be. Collecting, looting, building, selling and saving a town center from the evil's of corporations.

Anyone else addicted, have you made it through a year?

Just finished my first year. Have a massive self-watering crop now and a deluxe barn and coop. Hay has been a problem. Haven't figured out a way to keep from eventually having to buy it. Grass doesn't grow fast enough to sustain my animals. Recently just got married too. Winter was great for focusing on leveling up fishing and getting to the bottom of the mine.

Just started tonight actually...6 "days" in. I have never played a game like this before. It has been fun so far, but not sure what to expect going forward.

I am completely over minecraft and the resource grind, which I played for quite some time, but this game appears to be more.

Is it more?

Like Harvest Moon you store crops for the winter correct? What are the best crops for winter storage in Stardew?

Storing isn't really necessary except for the off chance someone wants something out of season for a quest. I kept my cash flow through selling my fish and spare minerals. Also, get fruit trees as soon as you can. In year 2 my cherry trees are producing fruit every single day and they sell for quite a bit. Even more if you turn them into jelly. That's my biggest profit right now.

It is infinitely more. It has the "ok I'll just do this and be done....ok nevermind I'll do this and be done....ok for real I'll do this and be done" kind of addictive quality. There's ALWAYS something to do/improve/upsize for greater profit.

I would love this to be multiple player. Like you could be part of a larger township and visit/trade/sell/buy from other user farms.

The devs have said that 4 player multiplayer is in the works.

ok I'll just do this and be done....

i dont know how many times I have said to myself "this is the last day that I am playing." As soon as the next morning starts I am like, "let me go see if my berries, mushrooms, trees, traps, etc. produced anything." Cycle repeats itself. Have no idea how to form relationships with other townsfolk other than the random fetch quest because I have been so tied up trying to get my farm off the ground.

I don't know how many animals you have, but go buy a bunch of grass starters from Pierre. Place them all over your farm in a more or less even pattern. Each patch of grass has a random chance to grow overnight, so the growth is effectively exponential. You just need to get it over that the begining curve.

Also never cut down an entire patch. Instead you should trim it to leave behind patches to grow again.

It's actually just one guy - he literally made everything in the game himself: art, music, code, etc.

He worked part time at a movie theater while he worked on the game for 4 years. Now he's a multimillionaire.

I almost never buy games full price anymore, but the combination of the praise this game got and the fact that is made by one guy convinced me to work over the cash.

Completely worth the $15 if you have any attraction to these type of games.

I'd pay 3 times the $15 for it. This has more value than over half the $60 games I buy

Yahtzee didn't appear to like it then realized he had spent every waking moment for 50 hours playing it.

I'm up to 35 hours played. I am addicted to this game since I've been waiting for a new Harvest Moon Game forever.

Go to the beach and use your hoe to dig up the snow yams and winter root. I would make 8k a day doing that in the winter.
