I spent many an hour on 4. What was that one big custom pack? Can't remember the name, but that made it 10x better. If they stick with the "open" formula for mods then it should be great. Maxis always puts out good shite.

I would always hit around 20-30,000 pop then it would never grow anymore. The regions always messed me up, and i didn't like having to link them to make it grow.

I just wanted one big area so that i could make it a big metropolis.

I always felt a sense of accomplishment when I got the Mario statue on the SNES.

Wonder what the deal was. I get over that pretty easily.

The zoning blocks from the original Simcity were pretty legit. That game had some weird mechanics. Remember having to guess a random number from 0-999 to find a map? WTF?

SNES also had the easy cheat code after year one that made it pure sandbox. I liked the scenarios though, nuclear meltdown was cool.

LOLZ... I totally forgot about that.

I never played with the cheat codes and the scenarios were fun.

Good times back then.

there was a user created NAM - network add-on mod - that was pretty much mandatory for a proper playing experience.
it added a multitude of transportation options and several different pathfinding fixes.

I loved Maxis games when I was a kid, but like anything EA takes over, Sim City is just a tired retread.

EA is the devil, which is sad because they used to be great

we are going to have to agree to disagree. the sim franchise has been fantastic. the evolution of the game from 2k to 3 to SC4 was great, and added not only better visuals but enhanced gameplay.

EA was pretty hands off with letting maxis do what thy wanted until they realized the SIMS was going to be such a large franchise.
