Recommendations for a MMORPG

What would you guys recommend? I played FFXI for years (yeah, I know it's terrible to most) and some WoW, but I just couldn't get into dropping major IRL money like many people do. I know FFXIV is coming out in December. Thanks.

I just got back into guild wars 2. It's great and I'd definitely recommend it since it is f2p. Rift is very well done and is going f2p. Those are the only ones I really have much experience with.
Star Wars Galaxies is awesome if you want to go through those hoops.

Going back to a Level 5 is frustrating because it's just so damn addicting the more you advance. At 45 points, the control wizard gets a "steal time" spell which is an AOE that freezes all enemies without the "sun" icon on them in place for about 5 seconds. Nasty on Domination maps.

I only have my trickster, but I'm doing so many damn quests that I'm leveling pretty fast

Just downloaded the Neverwinter Beta, what would you recommend as a good combo for melee?
