Alright guys, I was going to pick this up this year, but I don't know which one to get and I have read several reviews online. But I thought a little feedback from you guys might help me make a decision.
They have some good packages coming out for Black Friday.

PS4 is the better "gaming" machine and has more power. That being said, it's not such a huge difference that will make much of a difference. Xbox One you can run your cable through it, and you will never have to change channels when you want to play a game.
PS4-probably the better gaming console
Xbox One-Great gaming console but also more convenient than the PS4 as far as entertainment is concerned.
The biggest factor though is your friends. Go with which system has more of your friends because that's who you'll be playing with most of the time.

WiiU - if you want better exclusives and a huge library of classic Nintendo games from various systems.
PS4 - better if you like baseball games
XBOX One - Halo Series

So for overall entertainment value the Xbox One seems to be the choice.
What about online services?

Media wise Xbox has the advantage at the moment. It is very nice not having to change inputs.
The only word of warning I will offer is that you will need to have the Xbox on any time you want to watch TV if you choose to use it as your all in one device.
I thought at first it could be a straight pass-through, but that is not the case.
Trying to get my wife to turn off more than 1 device when leaving the room has been a pain.

So if I run my cable box through the Xbox One, and turn it on.
Can I operate the cable box with my remote or do I have to watch everything through the Xbox?

Anyone that tells you a specific system without reason isn't helping you.
Consensus is that get what your friends have and/or whichever system has the exclusives that you find most appealing.
Outside of the PS4 having a bit more power, and the Xbone being more of an all in one device, they are pretty much the same.
That being said, Amazon is supposed to have a great deal coming up on an Xbone at some point between now and Black Friday.

And PS4 has a pretty good bundle going on

You can make it so the only thing that would change is that you have to turn on your Xbox and flip to that input to watch TV. You xbox is basically showing whatever you cable box is showing.
If you buy some inexpensive IR blaster antennas you can actually use your Xbox to turn the channels if you would like.

You can have it set up so that when you turn on your Xbox One it goes straight to TV, so like in your case the wife doesn't really have to deal with the Xbox other than just turning it on.
