I'm just glad to see the classic "I was just trolling" Stout card played.

It's been too long.

ETA:

And yes I get that your OP was a troll...but the statement I responded to wasn't.

Not a single person thought for one second this was a serious thread.

Where'd you find the source for this info as I think a lot of the numbers are actually higher than listed.

Of course, there's also some cherry picking to see what qualifies and what doesn't. These infographics are fun.

I don't think this one is accurate at all. I think Steam has way more games and we have already discussed that PS4 and Xbone do as well.

Even for last gen too. I wonder if they count in things like Virtual Console or PS1 Classics, as they would really drive the numbers up.

I do wish this type of information was easily available because it's interesting. Especially when you compare the volume from now to past generations.

I would think PS1 and Wii would be the top two

Meh...your OP was trolling, but you were clearly not trolling with the statement I responded to.

This exchange and many in the past go nowhere because you can always just claim otherwise.

ETA:

And for someone so not serious about all of this, you will respond to me until you think you have the last "gotcha."

I mean, isn't it common knowledge that the PS3 was difficult to develop for? I would imagine that would be especially true for indie devs. I'm not sure how you can even argue against the 360 being a better system for indie games. Unless that whole thing about the PS3 being a nightmare for devs was false.

PS3 was harder to develop for, but that wasn't the only part of the equation. You still have to deal with either MS or Sony to get the game released.

ETA:

Also the difficulty to develop for Sony lessened as the console was out longer due to increasing knowledge of the architecture.

You still haven't said anything to prove how PS3 was a better system for indie games.

I was arguing that it wasn't fact that 360 and MS catered to indies more.

Many devs preferred the PS3 because they felt it was easier to deal with Sony and get their games released.

I think XBL Indie Games and XBL Arcade are two different things on the 360.

It's stupid easy to release a game to the Indie Games program. The problem is it doesn't get as much promotion and the market is also flooded with garbage. Both make it difficult to get noticed. HowTo FAQ

The developers that are bitching about Microsoft being difficult to deal with are talking about releasing to the XBL Arcade. Microsoft is much more selective and more hands on with developers that want to release games on the Arcade. They're involved in testing/localization/ratings/certification/etc. There are contract negotiations and a lot of other complicated procedures. It's a more strenuous process than the Indie Games which are peer-reviewed and have a pre-determined revenue share.

I think PS2 would be the top by a very large margin with the Wii behind it.

While PS1 got nearly all of the software that generation, more games were produced period in the following years. Would expect 360 and PS3 to follow behind Wii, then PS1.
