If I had been smoking weed and having sex on the reg when I was 15 I don't think I would've been begging to play a video game.

My 3-year-old is learning to lie. Luckily at this age she's really bad at it. But the consequences are harsh for lying. OP's son lying about the content in the game would be a reason to not let him play it.

I think she is already beginning to lie. Perhaps manipulate is a better word. Just when I start to get frustrated she finds a way to smile at me. I know she is manipulating me on purpose.

15 is plenty old enough. At that age he's probably already seen more sex and violence than gta5 has to offer. one game isn't going to change him in turn him into a bad pperson. If not at home he will just play it somewhere else.

I agree, totally would be more worried about that part than the kid wanting to play GTA. I think the kid is old enough to play it, but lying about it's content is horseshite.

At 15, the kid definitely has seen pr0n and whacking it, so sex isn't a big deal. The violence and dark tones are all over the news.

I'm certain there's truth to this. I caught him watching porn last year on his phone and installed a monitoring app. Let's just say I'm not the cool mom and refuse to knowingly be privy to these things. Hopefully when he has kids of his own he'll understand.

Sometimes it's just letting them know that it isn't acceptable, even if you don't stop them.

You are right, he is wrong.

Grand Theft Auto is a completely different monster.

It's pretty easy to tell who the younger people/public school kids are in this thread.

I kid, I kid.

C'mon The kid is 15. Let him play some GTA. I was 13 (I think) when Vice City came out. My friends and I played the crap out of that game when it came out.

The new GTA isn't even in the same stratosphere as Vice City. If the shite going on in this game isn't anything new to your 15 year old you are doing something VERY wrong.

I don't see the big deal. Its a video game and there isn't anything he's going to see in GTA that he can't see by turning on the TV. I was 12 when and had GTA 3 and Vice City. When I was 15 I smoked pot and drank and "heavy petting" some ladies. All my close friends and I turned out okay. Don't shelter the boy.
