Highest rumored price I saw is $499. I'm expecting $449.

Nvidia will be releasing a new GPU called Titan soon (probably months and months before PS4) that has 6GB of GDDR5. This card is being called a "super computer GPU". Which is still 2GB less than the PS4. That is why that number is an industry leader.

This is great and all but what they don't mention is that the 6GB on the titan is strictly video ram. The 8GB in the PS4 is shared for the whole system.

Rumored price points were 429 and 529.

I'm with Lew. I'm getting it on launch date if this is true.

A new rumor suggests that PlayStation 4 is due this November and will be available at two price points. According to Kotaku, anonymous sources say the PlayStation 4 is currently planned for two SKUs at $429 and $529 respectively, though “that could change.”

I wonder what the difference will be. Stout posted a Watch Dogs preorder link for $100, but I read somewhere that that price was a placeholder.

the only thing they said yesterday during the reveal was 8 gb ddr5 ram for system. My guess is this is for all the other tasks going on now outside of gaming so the system has less lag.

Yes, I know...and someone on the previous page went further with a Gizmodo link that explained it.

Sony is desperate and NEEDS to be first to the market. Xbox has dominated the past 3 years (not counting Wii because why would I) and Sony is trying to turn the tide.

In the US maybe. Worldwide the ps3 has outperformed the 360.

They are pretty close I believe as far as sales go worldwide, but when you factor in the year head start, Sony has sold better per year.

What hurt Sony was the initial PS3 price tag of $599 and lack of first party games at release, not the year head start IMO.

I know what that link said but the 8GB is the system ram. That means it is shared system ram. Other links I have read have confirmed this. Especially when you take into other things like core clock speed.

Just saying to bring up the Titan, which has 6GB of dedicated Vram, and say the PS4 will be close to the level of it is nonsense.

The PS4 is shaping up to be nice if rumors of the other components are true and I am happy it has 8Gb of ram but let's not get carried away.

But I thought there was 8 GB of that DDR5 RAM and then another quantity of RAM for computing...I might not be talking apples to apples though, I could be out of my element.

Worldwide sales figures

Overall, the Wii would outsell its competitors worldwide. However, Wii sales fell considerably in 2012. To this day, the PS3 and xbox 360 have been catching up.

Wii – 99.38 million as of 31 December 2012[8]

PlayStation 3 – 77 million as of 31 December 2012 [54][55]

Xbox 360 – 75.9 million as of 31 December 2012[56

1.1 million more units world wide isn't setting the world on fire.
