Persona 5 - Will I ever get control of my days?

I like this game a lot, but I seem to never have time to go and do what I want on off days.
I constantly get forced to go do something and then I'm "too tired to go out".
Does that ever change? It is really starting to annoy me.

If you ever go into the shadow relm you will always be tired. Later in the game is you get temperance to rank 10 it allows you to go into the shadow relm and still do stuff.
Also, if that's not what you after talking about, you will have more than enough time to do whatever your heart desires as the year progresses

What I'm talking about is how all of my days seem to be preplanned already. I am only on the 2nd palace, but I want to go level up social skills so I can increase confidant levels.
I don't have any chances to increase guts, charm, kindness.
I can't increase confidant rank for Lover or Death because of that.

It is really hard to max every confidant on your first time playing. In new game plus all of your social stats carry over so don't worry about maxing everything out.

I am getting ready for the 5th palace and it seems to only get worse from where you are. I think there was one point where I ended up having what seemed like 10 straight days of preplanned activities.
This is my only complaint for the game.

it really is, I am taking the time to max out the confidants that are good for the game, and for making ng+ easier for me... but as a general rule I'm not expecting to max them all out this play through. (even though I'm in early August with a few MAX confidants and most everyone else at 5... I probably still won't make it). It can be annoying knowing that you can't really see everything the game has to offer because of that, but from my experience with Persona games, you will see the "real" ending on your first playthrough... it just usually goes supernatural once you max out all confidants

Why offer all these outside activities if I can't enjoy them?
There are time of day and weather specific activities that I can't perform because I have no say.
quote:Same. I otherwise like the story and characters so far. I just want more freedom.
This is my only complaint for the game.

I don't think it's that bad. Just have to know when it's on rails or not. I love the network feature where you can see what other people did that day.
I do find that P5 has a lot more story focused events that steal free time, but I don't ever feel to constrained.
Also, Scruffy, make sure you're not going to sleep early. Good advice is going to the baths on M/Th (I think) because it gives +1 Charm. Also, you can study at the diner (Order coffee) to boost both knowledge and guts. Also, there's a confidant (Sun) that does some good social stat boosting.

and make sure to get rank 10 Temperance ASAP - I mean... as fast as possible without wasting time that is
Sun - Yen + Temperance - Extra Time = By August having a pretty good handle of your social links and social stats

Don't forget getting fortune to rank 7 I think for the ability to bond with other confidants. It gives you pretty much free time for more activities instead of having to grind a confidant.

Yeah I got fortune to 6 last night, trying to get it next

quote:You're missing the point of it all. The whole point of your initial playthrough is time management. How you spend the days you do have to either rank up confidants or social skills shapes how things go. It's supposed to limit you your first time through. That's why your social ranks carry over in NG+. So you can actually max everything out easily since you don't have to worry about leveling yourself up.
That is what has bothered me.

I don't mean to hijack the thread or want to start a new one about this game, but I have a request.
Can someone convince me to buy this game? I haven't played any Persona games in the past. I do like JRPGs.
My last purchase was between this and Nier: Automata and I chose the latter. I really enjoyed it.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

"The three things I hate are RPGs, anime, and turnbased games."
Yea, if that guy liked it...

Have you played Yakuza or Shenmue? If you want a Japanese life sim, those games might arguably be better. You can dick around all day with next to no real penalty. Shenmue has a day/night cycle and a seasonal calendar, so there are certain story bits and events that you'll miss if you play darts in the arcade all day, but you can dick around the batting cages in Yakuza all day with no penalty.

Me too. I read OP and wondered if he was talking about real life. As I read later posts I started to realize this must be some lingo for how the game works.
