I have asked a few on the travel board, we can keep it there so we don't clutter this thread with travel stuff.

Really excited about the upcoming Skylake-E (Now X). Not for the extra 2 cores for base models but higher clocks. Broadwell-E is not a great overclocker. So we are stuck around 4.2-4.3 stable for daily use.

Hopefully they use better TIM than whatever they used for the 7700k.

EDIT: And hopefully the prices are reasonable.

This won't change. It has been that way for awhile.

Edt: While more than likely not to change. It isn't their enthusiast line. Plus works fine even with semi-OCs.

The enthusiast line has continued to use solder.

Ha. The 44-lane enabled CPUs are going to be ridiculously high.

What's weird is the 4C/4T still being labeled i7, unless that's a typo.

Its probably a typo. Im guessing the 4C/4T and the 4C/8T will be labeled Kaby Lake-X.

Yea I hate how they do this BS.

They are moving towards a single chipset and socket by what PCPer talked on their podcast in January. For right now anything on the enthusiasts platform will be i7 and above. The i9s will be the real enthusiasts chips. Makes a confusing for consumers.

AMD confirms Computex Press Event. Appears it will be Vega and the Ryzen enthusiast CPUs.

quote:

Computex takes place from May 31 to June 3, with AMD scheduling its press conference for the first day of the convention at 10:00 AM. It makes sense that AMD would use Computex as a launchpad for Vega, as there are no other major events scheduled between then and the end of June.

We're less sure (but still optimistic) about Whitehaven. Engineering samples for AMD's forthcoming enthusiast grade Ryzen CPUs were recently spotted in the wild, each one wielding 16 physical cores and 32 threads. It's rumored that Whitehaven will require a new socket, just as Intel's enthusiasts chips do, to accommodate a bump to quad-channel memory support and more PCI-Express lanes.

You don't have enough compute power for that 16GB. I'm fine with GDDR6 honestly. HBM is not showing real benefits yet.

I surely hope VEGA can hold up. But then we have Volta within 6months. It has been 2yrs since AMD released flagships. That frenqunecy will never get nVidia to drop their stupid fckking prices.

Would anyone here be able to direct me to a rather cheap (free) version of Sony Vegas without me catching computer AIDS?
